Need to renew my insurance but one of my bikes is a long way from standard what with all the chrome and handlebar tassles so just wondering if anyone knows a good insurer for modded bikes?

Bikesure! They go via adrian flux and it's free to add mods that don't increase the power. Cool

Got my exhausts declared,
renthals,
round gs500 headlight
bandit tail unit
etc all done for free. Thumbs Up

Another vote for Bikesure. Adrian Flux are the ones in the car insurance market with the reputation for being most sympathetic towards mods.

As insurers go as well from my own experience they're fairly good with not whacking you with fee's every 5 minutes - so far anyway.

I've updated a few bike modifications - storage details and reg change all without any fees.

I'll give them a try then. The bike has race bodywork and no lights etc. but the only thing that might affect the power is a Power Commander. I say might as I didn't put it on there and I don't know if it even works or has been tuned properly Laughing

Bikesure is who I insure my turbo bike with. Half the premium I got quoted by Policy Shop.

How much does a turbo add compared to standard? Do they ask for power figures and the like?

Yes they ask for power figures, and a list off all modifications. In my case it was about 2.5 times the cost of a standard bike.
At first I couldn't get quote full stop, having a claim pending. Once that was settled I had no NCD, then when I got 1 yrs NCD I sat and wrote a 5-page document, listing my riding history, my bike's history, detailed all the mods, with pic, pics of my garage and the security, the dyno printout. They deliberated for a while then said I could have cover but for a limited mileage, social use only, no pillions and not to use at motorsorts events or the ring.

Shit.

Were you tempted to ride without insurance?

Think if I was in your position with the Turbo bike I'd take out trade insurance (apparently "I buy and sell bikes on eBay and GumTree" is now enough of a 'trade' to get trade insurance. I was told that by a young lad who called back from Co-Op insurance when I looked into getting a cage

Risk losing my job, house and bike, and financially ruining my family?

Nope.
