I'm with Ebike at the moment but due for a renewal. I've used them for a 5-6 years mainly because I tend to own variable numbers of bikes over the course of a year and they do not charge a fee for changing details. My main bike has a value of £6000 so I've never paid more than £10 to add another bike on the policy since the value is always lower.

Are there other companies with similar policies? I'm after fully comp, up to three bikes insured and no charges for changes. Ride other bikes would be good. I know it's a lot to ask for but it's worth looking before I auto renew.

the only other two that offer it are MCE and Carole Nash afaik. I wouldn't touch MCE with a bargepole after they charged me £170 to add my MZ to my policy... a bike that was worth £200 tops.

Carole Nash seem to have reasonable charges to add bikes and have been very good with me, despite me writing off my Buell and them having to pay out.

Ta. I was about to look at Carol Nash. Last time I used them was for a hard tail custom I built and no one else wanted to insure.

EDIT: Works out about £80 cheaper but I can't see anything about admin charges. Having read some posts where people are charged £35 to change details I would only have to add or remove a two bikes and there is no saving. I shall investigate.

Bikesure under adrian flux offer multibike policies - at least they have for me but maybe dependant on being repeat customer and how much NCB? I found calling up and telling them how much 'the other company' wanted made them undercut/match the price for adding said second bike. Thumbs Up obviously made up a cheap figure Wink

Im also on ride other bikes and although im sue some changes may carry a charge i changed reg details with a private plate mid term before and wasnt billed anything.

Carole Nash would only do four bikes last time I checked.

Think 4 is the limit on bikesure as well - i imagine its possible to take out a second multi bike policy should you have more hypothetically Confused Question

Bikesure are often particularly good if you have customised bikes as well as they specialise in dealing with custom vehicles from small mods to the often uninsurable stuff elsewhere like quads, trikes etc etc.

Don't touch Bennett's. They well cancel your policy and charge you for doing that. Then open a new policy getting a second commission on that. Just cost me £300 to add one more bike to my multi policy.

Wicked/Ramisis. You pay for your most expensive bike, the rest are essentially free, and you can have up to 4 IIRC.

You will likely get some admin fee to add/remove bikes etc, I think it was £30 last time I did so. Someone on here recommended them for multi-bike and I'd endorse that recommendation.

Just to go off on a tangent slightly, does anyone have any experience of adding an off road bike with a "daytime" MOT to a multi-bike policy?

Looking to get my first bike insurance within the next couple of months, got a Bandit 400 (which I'm getting good quotes for) but I'm picking up an '87 Can-Am (400cc 2-stroke Moto-x/enduro) which I want to register and get on the road and would like to get them both on the same policy. Just wondering if I'll be getting raped or not for something I'll only be riding on a whim occasionally!

Especially if its limited mileage you shouldn't no as so long as its got a daytime MOT and is being ridden in the day all is 'legal', i don't think the lack of lights or even signals affects policies normally , i know people who've had road legal track bikes on daytime MOTs with headlight covers and it didn't alter their quotes when mentioned as 'modifications'.

Carole nash charge me £25 - £34 to add bikes to my policy. Not more than 4 at a time though.

There is no such thing as a daytime mot, it was mot'd without lights so without lights you don't ride it in the dark.

If your bike is an XR250R for example it comes without lights so the quite is based on a bike without lights, putting lights on is a modification.

If it is a road bike with lights that have been taken off you will have to let them know.

Shocked Didn't realise that, did there used to be daytime MOT's or is it probably just people nicknaming the fact theyve got an MOT but its only legally rideable in daylight hours Confused

Looks like I'm stuck with Ebike.

5+ years NCB, full licence for 23 years, advanced training blah blah blah

£120 with Carol Nash, until I mention the cosmetic exhaust and suspension upgrade at which point they won't quote Shocked .

Tried a couple of other places and while they will quote it generally adds on £80-£100 for those two mods. How do they justify that kind of hike? Oh yeah, they don't have to.

BTW, the bike insurer is junk since it doesn't list certain security options and doesn't allow the addition of mods rendering the quote useless.

And eBike are pretty sensible about mods. Pennies or pounds whenever I've listed them.

However, the GS is on a new policy via Hastings Direct. I just put crash bars on it and the thought of telling them is, well, hilarious. "Hello, I'd like to inform you that I've added something which costs the same as my excess and which could sharply reduce your liability. How much extra would you like me to pay you for doing that?"

That was after their quote went down by 1/3rd when I listed no security vs an Almax chain. I'm done with insurance idiocy and playing their silly games.

I've got a multi bike policy with bikesure mate and my gas gas ec250 is a "day timer" as u call it, as has been said the daytime mot doesn't exist it's just a nickname for one that can't be used after dark of u wanna be anal about it, kinda makes sense really! U don't need any lights, signals or brake lights for that matter, quite incredible really!

Lol Hastings Direct. Quote on the bike insurer was about £70 fully comp. Added the two mods and it went up to £150 with a £350 excess Laughing Just pointless.

Very interesting thread. I had a Carole Nash multi-bike policy briefly on my ZZR600 and Bros 400. However being 22 and with 1 year NCB + a claim a lot of insurance companies (carole nash included) give me silly quotes on the ZX6R and even the TRX850 I had before. So I don't bother now...just got two separate policies.

How many of you bother actually declaring things like chains and loud exhausts as mods? I never have and I don't think I've ever owned a bike with a standard can Laughing In fact the TRX had 'modded' paintwork, suspension and even a renntec rack...ooh...think of the liability!

I have older bikes and have a multi-bike policy via Footman James.
However, I have no idea how much it would cost to swap and change details of the bikes.

I do know I cannot add a new(er) bike but one of similar age to the others would be ok.

I do not want to give them the slightest reason to worm out of a pay out if it is ever needed.

Wait, extrapolating from that, that would mean that the statistics they base the premiums on indicate having a chain on your bike... increases the chances of it being stolen?

Wut.

Wut.

I'm assuming that not listing security triggered them using a different underwriter who quoted substantially less.

Of course, we're both trying to apply logic and reasoning, it could as easily have been a random spin on the Wheel-O-Insurance.

I just set one up with bikesure over the weekend, KTM 950 Supermoto and a 05 ZX6R 636, I also declared the after market exhausts that are on both bikes as well, 4 years NCB.

Total was £240 TPFT not bad considering I live half a mile from Benchill in Wythenshawe, Manchester... eBike were quoting me £350.
