Number of Kraft shares reduced - why?

My Aunt and Mother inherited some Kraft shares.

Since the initial probate some time ago, the number (not value per share) has reduced significantly - almost by half.

I can't find any situation where this should happen and they shouldn't receive some recompense or the like?

Can't find anything in relation to Kraft specifically either.

The probate guy is just saying "not a financial advisor, idunno".(Co-Op I believe, generally pretty useless from what I've seen, I'd avoid.)

Has the company split at all? Shouldn't have thought that would make a difference, but it might. I'd start doing some investigating I think.

Make sure they've not "accidentally" put them into the name of one of the other trustees, i.e., the probate lawyer...

I thought it was before the initial audit was taken, but looking at it, it is after.

I can check their history when I get to work tomorrow, I look after a database that will have all this info in it.

I've found out enough for them to ask an appropriate pertinent question, so should be ok for the moment, cheers Chris.

Even at the lower value, the shares will have gained considerably when compared to inflation or a lot of other investments if you look at the original purchase I believe - but certainly a lot better if these 'lost' shares are found.

Seems the probate people messed up.

Current quantity of Kraft shares is 1/3rd previous quantity and yes, looking around there is the correct original quantitiy of Mondelez International, Inc shares, which weren't present before the split.

However, previously the quantity of Kraft shares had been presented as one more than the Mondelez International, Inc. shares. Guessing this was a typo somewhere - annoyingly, one which the co-op charged £50 for the single page letter with information probably from google, bar the three important quantities, one of which they got pretty badly wrong.

I think they will be doing anyway, but should be less of an issue anyway in their 'control' - as they'd get sent the information regarding it.

Also, seems unlikely they will split again, having done a bit of research in to the companies and the like.
