Pretty much retired now, the odd one here and there maybe. Smoked like an absolute fucking boss for decades, gave up at 40-ish.

Nope never have done, although I nearly always carry a lighter. If I did smoke it would be black cherry pipe tobacco it's my favourite child hood aroma.

Nope, never. Barely even tried. Hated people smoking around me as a kid, so never even considered it. Tried a couple of puffs on a joint many years ago, but it hurt so much, never even tried that again either.

I quit smoking many years ago (early 30s), but kept on the Nicorette products for years afterward. I think I stayed on the gum/microtabs/patches for about five years. It wasn't until I finally stopped that I realized they weren't doing much. It was no problem to stop -- a couple of days of very mild cravings.

All that money, down the drain...

Been a heavy smoker for about 10 years I think, but haven't smoked since saturday.
Had a hangover on sunday and didn't smoke and then - pffft I dunno, just seems silly to have one now I guess. Been trying one-and-off to quit since february.

I've not smoked baccy since new-years. I do use the herbal stuff (or tealeaves) for the occasional joint though.

I smoked from being a bad ass 14 year old Rolling Eyes and packed in when the extortion surrounding 'legal' cigs hit a fiver for a decent pack. Twenty cigs or half a tank of petrol for the bike? The cigs are now eight quid odd a pack and that is still about half a tank of petrol. Shocked

Just applied a bit of MTFU and quit with no patches, gum or fannying around.

I tried it when I was 16-17 but never see the point of it if I didn't have a beer in my hand.

Move on to this year (I'm 25) and I have 5-10 a day.

It all started with social smoking then I started liking the feeling during the day. Infact, I might go and have one in a minute Smile

I dislike shop bought ciggarettes though, only roll ups for me.

non smoker - i see it as hypocritical to tell patients that they need to stop/cut down on smoking if i reeked of tobacco myself...

16-21 Smoked.

I didn't realise how horrible smokers stunk until I quit. For some reason it is 10x worse than before I started. My house mate and his room reek of cigarette smoke. Before I started, smoking didn't bother me much but I can smell it miles away and it makes me feel sick.

Started smoking once I was introduced to weed. Smoked for about 5 years before I quit. I didn't decide to quit so much, it just kinda happened; I got septic tonsillitis when at uni, the docs there wouldn't see me out of hours and I could hardly swallow, so I drove home to Liverpool, went to the 24 hour docs, who prescribed me some anti biotics from the 24 chemist and I was back up in Carlisle 6 hours after I left. On that dull journey up and down the M6 I would have usually been smoking nearly all the way, but I couldn't with my throat the way it was, it hurt too much.

When I got home in Carlisle, I threw my packet of cigs on the coffee table and went to bed. 2 weeks later a friend came around, saw the cigs on the table and asked if she could have one, I replied "You might as well have the whole pack, I think I've quit". Amazing what 3 days of not being able to smoke cos of the pain can do... after those 3 days I wasn't gagging for a cig, and it had already become 'lost' from my routine. I decided to keep away. It wasn't really a "I'm definitely going to make an effort to do this" kinda thing, I just thought I would see how far I could go...

...turns out, pretty far - that was over 6 years ago Thumbs Up

My friend gave me a few while we were having a break from moving her stuff out of her apartment. I bought her a pack as thanks for being there for me but she was gone before I could give them to her so I kept 'em and decided to use them. With all the shit in my life atm it's nice to have something to take the edge off for a few minutes but the aforementioned pack lasted has me three months, so I'm not sitting puffing away constantly. More than one in a day and I don't feel well.

Before this, I would only ever have them once in a blue moon, on a work's night out where booze and something to smoke went down very well.
