Why does changing the coffee you drink give you the shits? It doesn't happen with tea.

Does it?
Can't say I've noticed and I can drink several types/makes a day from McDonalds (don't laugh their latte coffee isn't bad) to Costa to Starbucks to Millicano instant etc.

Same here. My parents would encourage me to eat breakfast before school trips and so I'd be stuck on the bus with bloated, churning guts.

The most I can manage is a few cookies or a muffin or donut. I don't mind a full breakfast... I just don't eat it at breakfast time.

Does anyone else find coffee from the same jar will one day taste vile or at least un-inspiring - then another day seem delicious?
I think it's related to getting over a cold or something.

I get the same if I try and eat before ~6am. Usually when travelling which means you have to eat something as it could be hours until the next meal. Best thing I've found is fruit. Most hotels do bowls of fruit and I can eat as much of that as I want without causing internal issues.

On the OPs subject - coffee is a mild laxative, some more than others. I find shit coffee (i.e Nescafe) to be the worst of the lot, fresh coffee just, shall we say, 'moves things along'.

Warm fluid also 'kick starts' peristalsis hence why it can play hell with your guts first thing in the morning.

Does it more to me when it's hot food, I love a full fry up but can only really have them after a couple of hour of being awake
