I have just bought 2 second hand wheels off ebay for my bike. They are 3 spoke alloys and could do with cleaning and repainting. Does anybody know where I could get them stripped and repainted cheaply? I have rung a few places and £20-30 seems to be the going rate, was hoping not to have to spend that much.

i'm not to sure as to where you can go to get them cleaned up cheap. but if it was me i would go and buy a bottle of metal cleaner and have a stab at it myself.
maybe a spray if they need it Very Happy

You can do it yourself, it's basically how much you value the time and the end result done by a metal workshop will be better.

Get from B&Q or somewhere a bottle of paint stripper as that takes all the stuff like old paint and general crap off. Then comes the hard bit which is sanding/ rubbing them down with different levels of wet and dry paper. I can't remember what grade you should go down to but it's something like 1500 grade off the top of my head. This is going to take a long time, and you cut corners out of this step and you're messing the end result up basically. Then in a clean and dry place you can spray it with metal paint, then you'll need to put a coat of clear laquer over the top to protect it. You should be able to get more info about this if you're needing it, or with a bit of poking around on google.com for stuff on car paint.

Good luck and happy painting. Thumbs Up

Get them powdercoated. Much better than paint as it doesn't flake off like paint and it looks much nicer. Its not very expensive. Probably about 30squid a wheel for plain colours.
