Fuji finepix S4000

Ahead of my trip to the Scotland, I have been looking into a half decent camera to capture the essence of the Highlands.
My phone camera just won't cut the mustard, but I really don't have the money for an slr and lens.
I've been looking at secondhand bridge cameras, and have narrowed it down to the Fujifilm S4000. The 30x zoom is a selling point for sure! It seems to also have alot of positive reviews.
Does anyone own an s4000 and what are your thoughts on them?

Keep in mind that you'll need a tripod to get good shots at that kind of zoom.

The single best camera I have ever used that was supplied to me is pretty much a point and click jobby. The Panasonic Lumix TZ27. They do a far better one now...

I currently have the TZ7, because of my budget and the fact it was going to Spain to take photos.. In care not for my possessions so was shoved in a bag with everything else.

It had incredible zoom, obviously, against a £300 camera, it would be worse, but for the money, I really would get the latest TZ40.

I had one of the older models of that type and liked it.
It was quite small and useful. I preferred it to the compact types and the zoom is useful. You don't need a tripod for quick shots. I used mine at my son's rugby matches and it coped (just - the sports setting was essential and there was still shutter lag - maybe improved on later models). Also taken on holiday and the zoom again is useful as well as being able to get the landscape shots. Beats the limitations of the non-professional compacts and also beats lugging a slr around with other lenses.

Be aware if you want to save some pennies Fuji's own online shop do refurbished cameras - click here. I got my daughter a camera from that and also took out the extended warranty. Which was useful as they honoured it when it had a little accident.

I'm actually interested in the refurbed S8200 to augment the slr I upgraded to. I also like the fact that using AA batteries (I'd use rechargeable ones anyhow) you're not tied to finding a charger or buying another battery and hoping it's kept it's charge.

For that price, I personally recommend the Finepix HS10, as that's the camera I have, it's actually cheaper, and the photos I can get are quite good in my opinion! And it also has the 30x zoom.

Here's my very own Scotland album, taken with the HS10, looks like you can buy one for about £100 on ebay if you're lucky.
