Fly, boats are boring and typically pricey, last minute flights are cheaper.

I've heard it's possible to walk under the sea to get there. The sea around Ireland is rich with oxygen, which negates the need to ever breathe, as you can absorb through the skin.

Try it.

Ryanair if you consider self-loading-freight an acceptable class of flying. Aer Lingus if you want to be treated like a human.

Be sure to go drinking in Darndale. Take some little paper Union Jacks to hand out to the locals.

I would be taking overalls, boots and welding screen. But on as hand luggage. Hoping to be there and back in a day.

Both airlines charge you to check in a bag. This means that both airlines are very strict about hand luggage size and weight; Aer Lingus because they want to make sure there's enough room in the cabin for everyone, Ryanair because they want to make an extra £30 out of each passenger.

You can get the ferry from Holyhead - it takes a couple of hours. Can't imagine it'll cost much as a foot passenger but then you've got to get to Holyhead (train) and from the port in Dublin to your workplace which probably means a taxi fare. But then taxis to the airport from the centre of Dublin are maybe 30 euros each way too. I forget exactly how much (I used to work in Ballsbridge) but it wasn't cheap.

For 1 day of work, unless someone is paying expenses I doubt you'll break even.

Rail and Sail. Look at either irish ferries or stena. I used to fly, but when you add the costs of getting to and from airports, the amount of time you're sat around doing nothing and the measly baggage allowance (unless you pay a shit tonne more money for checked baggage) it stopped being worth it.

£38 each way gets you your trains to holyhead and your crossing, with as much luggage as you can carry. If you go Stena, pay the extra couple of quid to go on the fast boat. It goes into Dun Laoghaire and you can get the very frequent Dart train for a couple of €s into the centre of dublin. Otherwise it's taxi into dublin centre from the port (probably about the same money wise as getting the fast boat + dart, but not as easy to do).

Other that that, club class is worth it on the boat. About 10quid gets you into a more private lounge (fewer families and kids yelling etc), complimentary snacks (all you can eat) and wine (all you can drink). Definitely worth it if you don't have to arrive sober!

I would also say get the Rail and Sail tickets to Dublin, £38 each way if you buy them in advance or £43 on the day if their is space on the ferry for you.

How would he possibly announce his impending interview to an audience of people who give "not one shit" if he just did what you suggest without making a fuss?

Woooah there... Just spotted this... Whereabouts in Ballsbridge? My old man used to live on Simmons Court Road (1st floor apartment overlooking the RDS = free gigs!). He's moved to sandymount now, but still drinks in Crowes and Paddy Cullens/Mary Macs.

Get a really baggy tracksuit top, go to the top of Ben Nevis, lift arms out to the side and jump. You should make it to Dublin before landing, honest Thumbs Up

your employer must be very impressed with your ability to work on your own, solve problems and find solutions to tasks unsupervised.

Do your research. Turning up at the airport and hoping to see a bus that says "Red Cow" on it is a strategy that's unlikely to work as well as you hope it will.

The buses in Ireland have red dogs on the side anyway.

An airport is generally used.
