PostPosted: 17:50 - 22 Jul 2013    Post subject: Biker Killed in Liverpool on Sunday Reply with quote

A biker friend of mine from the Northwest Bikers Forum was Killed and his Pillion airlifted to hospital after the bike they were riding collided with a barrier.

The hospital will not tell us how badly injured the pillion is other than its no longer life threatening.

It is always hard to have mates die but this guy was a real character and a very experienced rider and a great help with his mechanical skills to other bikers .

Recently he organised a Bench being put up at the Cat and Fiddle for a Young Biker Sean Foden who was Killed in Liverpool and it is very sad to be going to the funeral of another Forum member so soon .
I know several of the NWB forum are n here also and for some this will be the first they know of the loss of VVTR (Martin)
I hope the rest of us all survive this year and many more, but sadly the statistics from this year alone show that is unlikely to be the case.
Ride safe guys ..... and do take care...

Blind crest, very sharp left, bump before the bridge.
The front end washed out and he binned the bike.
The bike hit the armco, flipped over and hit the wall behind it.
Benny/Martin/Vee (depending on where you know him from) slid on his chest for a bit then headbutted a kerb.

I've not long got back from necking several beers.

I've not been on NWB for long but seen a couple of his posts, he seemed like a great character.

RIP.

Pillions injuries are not what you would expect from an off in a 30 limit, with a "slow" sign painted on the road before a blind 90 degree bend and taken at under 30 mph .

But who knows? I came off at 40 slid and cracked three ribs and only hit the road, not an armco barrier and a wall .

Tragic for both of them but it has made me very wary when having someone on the back that I take extreme care....
Anyway no speculation it will al come out in the wash

30 limit, SLOW warning sign painted on the road and didn't negotiate the same bend as the bike in front ? Think there is a lot more to it than that , given the horrific injuries to his pillion ? but time will reveal all no doubt ...

The road sign is currently obscured by the tree, the pic on googlemaps is a year old.
If you dont know the road it will catch you out.
And that bump before the bridge is a twat.

Funeral info:-

2nd of August at 10am St Michaels Church Burtonwood nr Warrington. All bikes welcome and encouraged. St Helens crematorium for 11am then back to the Catholic club at Burtonwood for the wake.

Everyone the family have requested that we meet at Martins house the morning of the funeral for 8.45 leaving behind the cars at 9am.

Please no overtaking this is a steady ride in procession as a mark of respect. There will be no need to stop traffic at junctions as this could be dangerous and we do t want to see any incidents. There will be no speed involved so keeping up will not be an issue.

I will speak with Rob J about warning the local plc about the funeral procession just in case there's any issues.

Please make every effort to be there in plenty of time and thank you all for your support.

The address:

16 Gilderdale Close
Risley
Warrington
England
WA3 6TH
