Failed mod 2 today. 30 degrees, sweating like a bitch, nervous as hell, and examiners radio buggered so agreed to do test without using instruction and directions each step. 5 minutes into test came off dual carriageway sliproad behind a bus, remembering the instructors voice in my head, "be prepared to stop but go if clear and safe". Well, very quiet with no other traffic so after looking both ways followed the bus out only to find a nice white circle on my left!!! Yep, a mini roundabout. I watched in my mirror as the examiner went around the same bit of paint and thought "Oh S#!T, that's me failed!

No signs on slip road for mini roundabout but that's no excuse. Rest of the test went fine, 1 minor for missed observation. Obviously with the 1 serious it was a bit of a fail. Can't believe I made such a stupid mistake!

To cap it all off, CBT runs out midnight tonight so got to retake that before anything.

At least I did mod 1 and theory 1st time!!!

That's really bad luck. Next time it'll be easy though. It's worth getting as familiar as you can with the various routes they use.

Fair play for giving it a good go in far from ideal conditions. I think that would have thrown me totally if they had told me I wasn't going to have radio contact with the examiner.

You should ace it next time.

Thanks people. Haven't booked yet as now have to pay for fresh CBT tomorrow but hopefully booking end of week for end of month or beginning of next, depending on available dates.

Must admit I felt like crying but knew I'd failed so just got on with the rest of the test.

Yeah was a bit un-nerving not being in radio contact but coped ok.

If your CBT expires do you have to do mod 1 again or is that banked now?

Bloody well hope not! From what I understand the CBT can be taken again to renew in between theory/mod 1/mod 2 and doesn't come into the 2 years for all 3 parts of obtaining a full bike license, although you need a valid one to complete each stage.

Theory and mod 1 should still be valid and mod 2 needs to be taken before the 2 year expiry of the theory.

Actually, it might be. AFAICS, a mini-RA must be signed with the little blue RA signs, else it's not legally a RA. Not sure I'd want to argue it though.... also, check with streetview but I suspect there are actually signs, but the bus obscured them if you were quite close behind it. (If the bus I was following on my test had gone 1mph faster through the 20 limit I didn't notice because of the bus, the instructor said he would have had to fail me, too. Moral of story: try not to follow buses too closely on your test!!).

Better luck next time Smile

Passed with 1 minor Very Happy

Examiner took me on a different route this time but still managed to include the same mini roundabout! On purpose me thinks lol.

All I need now is a bigger bike!

Thanks to all for words of wisdom and advice Smile

To be honest I'm really limited financially at the mo. I'm selling my Chinese 125, prob get about £3.75!

Friend of mine at work has got a Kawasaki ZR550 Zephyr, immaculate condition but needs MOT. He (pro body sprayer) and his son (owns a few bikes and knows what he's doing), stripped it down, powder coated, sprayed, re-chromed and polished everything, new tyres and most bearings (ie wheel, headstock etc), brake pads, SS brake lines, Renthal handlebars, twin dominator headlights and prob some other bits I've forgotten, looks mint.

Anyway, should fly through an MOT, hasn't been on road since finished as he bought a GSXR and has saved it for me as I expressed an interest. I can have it for £600.

Either that or try and get a swap / px for my thing, or sell thing hopefully for around £600 and see if anything else about!

Any advice gratefully received!
