Got the chance to buy a 51 plate 1.9 skoda fabia for 200 quid
Seems like a bargain , needs a new shock and PAS light is on.
Searching the net and the PAS seems to be like a common problem , anyone own or owned one of these cars and is there anything else to check out for?

Maybe go ask on Briskoda.net? They're very helpful. I had an Octavia which had repeated issues with the MAF and a kind member who had the diagnostic system met up with me and give me car's self-diagnostic. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). I had one as a company car years ago.
If it's a 1.9 SDi Non turbo then it will be dreadfully slow. Steering racks used to be a common problem on them.
Be careful, not sure if it applies to steering warning lamps, but recently a whole host of malfunction indicator lights have now become an MOT FAILURE, rather then just an advisory (unless you're happy to 'fix' the light rather than the cause of course). ____________________ Current: ZZR1400

I fix em for a living, that is cheap even if it just the 1.9sdi non turbo.
PAS light could be anything from a battery dieing (start it let it run for a minute then switch off and restart, if the light goes off a new battery will fix it) to a power steering pump unit (electro hydraulic pump with an ecu built in) or possibly a steering sensor in the rack, pumps are around £75 used on ebay later ones are better, sensor is around £45 I think(it has been while since I saw an invoice lol)
rear shock is 10 mins to change, front is a bit more involved tho, also fitting audi A1 or cupra wishbone bushes is very worthwhile .
if you are close to me I'll gladly help out mate. ____________________ Hyosung cruise 125(passed test on, sold) Kawasaki el 252 (better than expected but sold on) Kawasaki GPZ500S first "big"bike.(sold) ZZR600 E5..Z750 2007,ER5, currently on a 2008 Enfield bullet electra x and loving it..
