Hey people. I don't have a garage which is a bit of a shame. As I am looking to get either a Cagiva Mito, Aprilia RS or Honda NSR 125 for my first bike, I have been looking on insurance quotes, and I have noticed that if you have a garage, you save roughly £1000! So, would it be allowed that I could use my house as the garage? Sure it'd be inconvenient to me but so is minus £1000!

Thanks, Darryl

Yes you could probably get away witht hat. by garage i think they mean secured lockable structure. house/extension/building should all count really

I think the best thing to do would be to just ring several insurance quoters up and see what each says about it. Thanks anyway though.

My mate has is CBR600 insured as garaged but it is in fact in his living room until he gets his bikesafe or whatever they are called, and they were cool about it.

The main problems are:

1.) Your house will probably stink of oil / petrol / both.
2.) Road grime from your tyres spread around your house.
3.) Getting the bike into the house, you'll be suprised by how much space they actually take up.
4.) Your house insurance may not like it as they can be a fire risk.

I agree with Mr Pants. I think you need to shop around Enrique. An extra £1,000 smackarooney's (oops sorry!) just because you don't have it in a garage appears too steep.

Do you have room on the side of your house to create a basic 'lean-to'? Put it there. It would only cost a couple of hundred to put up and it would be a convenient way to keep your bike in good condition.

For a honda NSR 125cc, my insurance is £1,673.13 and that's TPFT and keeping it in a 'garage', but I am only 18, without, it's £2,418.79. This one is £800 difference, one was £1000 and i think i remember another being £1,200! I think i'll just say it's in a garage but really in my room or something.

Live in a Band A insurance area, the cheapest possible insurance area.

Its with Bennetts, and yes it will be restricted to 33BHP. Cool

Find out what insurance band you are in here:

My GS500E TPFT is the same kind of price as Scratchers.
And he lives in Somerset, it is from what I know of it, about as rough as where I live, Devon.
So on the whole, it is a nice little place for old people to retire too and so on.
Not really crime central or anything.

How much you reckon he could get knock of Bendy? Oh, and I live in a surprisingly shocking E, area. I thought it would have been a D, never mind. Only takes a few pricks to spoil it for us all.

I don't know, you'd have to ask him.

I insured a CBR600 for considerably less and that was parked on-street in an F area.

He charges £30 right? If I just asked him to get the quote, would he want the £30, or is it when he tells you where to get it?
