I need to replace the brake pads on my Er5 (1999) but i have no idea how to get the old pads out. I have looked at loads of YouTube videos and websites but can't find it anywhere. No other bike seems similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

front or back, single, twin, quad or 6-pot, getting pads out are all the same.

1. Removing the locking clip and sliding the pin out
2. Removing the anti-squeal plate (if fitted)
3. Extracting the pads.
4. Fitting new pads.
5. Doing it back up.

If you're stuffed, go to halfords and buy a Haynes Manual.

Thumbs Up

My problem is I don't know where the locking pin/clip is or what it looks like on my bike.

IIRC Er5s have slidey calipers on the front which have two pots on one side, similar to my CBR6.

That's all I can help you with; but I'm sure someone else can tell you.

It might not be the same year as your bike but the principles will be the same.

Not on an ER5...

No pin, no clip.

You take the calliper off and remove the pads (if they haven't already fallen out). Push/wind the pistons back in, put the new pads in then replace the calliper.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.
