Ok a few exhaust questions I couldn't find anywhere on the net.

a) Can I put any exhaust on to a bike? What is it that prevents me from putting a blue flame or an akro on the Bros (Don't start!).

b) Can I make some kind of baffle to stick in the exhaust of a can that does fit the bros if the above isn't possible. It's a fuel exhaust https://www.fuel-silencers.co.uk/exhausts_prices.htm. So that I can carry the baffle with me if the plod don't like the look of it?

c) Is a race can road legal if the dB are within the legal range or is there more to it?

d) What happens if they do stop you for the exhaust? Fine, points, telling off, jail?

I'm sure many of you will sigh and shake your head after reading these questions but if you don't ask you don't know. So be nice Razz .

Cheers

Jan

From what ive been told about my goose which is very similar, you can just buy any end can you fancy, get someone to weld you up a link pipe and jobby done. In short. Dont expect a power boost, they may be lighter and without baffles (or with if you want legalness but its alot of money for just looks) but only a full system designed for your bike will help.

AFAIK anyway

Nah I just want the looks and the cool sound. If I'm having it for two years it's got to be half-way respectable.

Haha this is a goose with a stupidly expensive endcan on it... does it look half way respectable to you or just silly? Plus remember for 2 years you only have 6 points to play with... dont wanna be getting points for being too noisy. Not to mention when they stop you and you have a feck off huge can on it and you were doing 35 in a 30, are they gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, or think you are a speed crazed loon...

Ive only had one run in with the police and frankly i was far too stoned to remember it properly Laughing but i do know i was very polite and they let me go even tho i had several ticket worthy offences (not to mention the pot but shh bout that)

Erm... the sassyness Neutral

Personally i think thats realitvely trick in an odd way, kinda like the buell lightnings exhaust inbetween your rear sets with the muffler just under the belt (i shit you not)... its odd, but cool. (altho i loathe that screen... it screams american tourer typey at me Shocked )

As for exhausts i spose the gooses aint that bad.... itsquite meaty, and the last cock to own it drilled a hole in the end can to make it sound louder... to be fair it does... but still a chav.

Frankly the reason id get a new end can is to get rid of the shitty huge expansion chamber that must be mullering power... nothing like a straight through pipe. Scotty has one with a straight through zorstec can and his gets about 15mph top end more then me, altho my plug was blowing so that could be it.

Technically yes but if there are no markings on the exhaust at all the police cannot give you a ticket for having a race pipe on your bike.

The other way round it is to have a Q plate vehicle which has got to be to 1971 standards which excludes it from quite a few of the things which are required today.

So, if you polish out the 'not for road use' bit on a race can you can't get a ticket for it? Can the police not noise test it?

They can do a decibel test but they have to send out for a tester and that can take hours so they don't really bother.

My ZZR600 has a Micron Can on it, it has a BS Mark on it but no E Mark.

Is it the fact its from before the E Standard that it comes with a BS Mark etc?

Is this road legal or illegal?

from what ive seen of bros exhausts, you can get certain ones that bolt straight on. will sound nicer, but look much the same as the stubby thing you dont seem to like

talking to someone like zorstec will get you a link pipe made, and from there you can route the exhaust anywhere you want, personally i would take it through the subframe and exit on the other side, like an NC30, would look nicer, and then you can mount any can you like, depending on the link pipe connection that you get made up for you

its only a bros remember tho

Hi

Note that rerouting the exhaust is going to change its length and might well have strange effects on the power output.

Blame an MP called Robert Addley for the laws on the markings of bike exhausts. Technically an exhaust must either have a relevant BS stamp (or now an E marking) or be marked "Not for road use". Think it is illegal to sell an exhaust which is not marked with one or the other.

All the best

Keith
