2 things. First off, I really really want Kobayashi to go to Lotus. It would be awesome.

Secondly, I want to go to an F1 weekend with some mates. Where is good to go? A guy at work went this year and said the tickets for Silverstone cost more than all travel and cheapish hotel and the tickets for the Italian GP. I could be wrong on the location there BUT has anyone been to an EU F1 race? Got any recommendations?

Spa is pretty good. Monza is quite a convenient one, it's 20 mins on a train from Milan - I've not been but a mate goes every other year

Did you see my Abu Dhabi thread? Don't rule that out IMO. It's cheap enough to get to, cheap enough to stay and eat in the city; the only downside is a grandstand ticket is anything from £300 - £1000. We had £500 South Grandstand tickets and TBH it's quite good value when you think you've got 3 concerts (Kylie, Nickelback, Eminem) over the 3 nights, and the V8 supercars are there in support.

Was that £500 for the whole weekend including the concerts?

Yeah, allocated seating all weekend and goes from Thursday morning pit walk through to Sunday night's concert.

I'd be looking at Spa, Monza, Hungary or Canada before Abu Dhabi. Remember that while in Abu Dhabi you only get the V8's in support, at the rest of the races you get GP2, GP3 and Porchse supercup.

Spa is very easy to get to , it's only a 4 hour drive from the chunnel. Go on the bike and you've got the stunning Eifel roads and the Nurburgring right next door too.

Also don't rule out China and India. The airfare won't be cheap but once you're there everything is dirt cheap.

It's a really good spectator venue.

As a run down of cost, it was this for us:
Getting there (went on Thursday arrived evening, back on Monday arrived late afternoon) and hotel for 4 nights = £518 p/p based on 2 sharing a room
Grandstand ticket = £500
Spends £300-£350 p/p across the course of the weekend but we didn't take it easy on the beer which is really expensive and we ate in some expensive places. The cheaper places you can get a decent meal with a per head price of ~£15.

That also includes taxis to / from Yas Marina to the hotel in the city, which we did twice daily pretty much.

spa would be my choice. It's particularly popular among the UK fans. It's a great track for racing and for the fans.

For that I would want Jensons' and Lewis' G/F to play all weekend with my nut sack.

Go on Lewis! I haven't seen it yet, but he won.

Spoiler alert above!

Now this has been revived....

Cracker of a race. The move RG vs. Massa was ballsy, as was Hamiltons leapfrog with Webber.

Grosjean's penalty for the overtake on Massa was mental Mad

Kimi's stealth run to 2nd was great but Romain should've been there too.

Lewis won that race by overtaking Button and leaving the rest stuck in a train behind the Brit. Fair play, the Merc pit wall must've been making buttons on their seats after Nico's engine decided to break up early for the summer shut-down.

Have to wait now to see if Romain takes a penalty to Spa for tapping Jenson the mobile chicane.
