Er in case you break down? Then you don't have to leave your pride and joy at the side of the road?
What a stupid question. Rolling Eyes

I never had breakdown cover once.. forgot to add it was only £25.. The inevitable happend broke down rang and they wanted to charge me £130 to add it onto the policy... Rang a recovery company and the price made me shit my pants £269 Shocked.

Left my bike in the tyne tunnel car park for three days until my mate could pick it up in his van ( case of beer as payment) Caused massive ball ache not having a bike for three days however that's irrelvant because you trollin ( i hope )

Because people tend to breakdown Rolling Eyes

And the hassle or costs required if you do breakdown, which i'd think is likely even on a well kept bike every few years for one reason or another tend to outweigh the cost and peace of mind having breakdown.

And some people need their bikes for work and other important things and can't afford to be ringing up their mate barry and waiting for his magic van to arrive hours later, or pushing it the remaining 50 miles to work in the pissing rain Whistle

towing a car home is easier than finding a bike trailer at short notice.
breakdown in a car? can sit inside out of the pissing rain.

i'd fully comp any bike over £1500, and the only reason i haven't put fully comp on my last 3 bikes is because 2 i bought for £600 and made my mistakes on em before selling cheap. the other one was free so i didn't really give a damn about it.

i'll be sure not to stop when i see you pushing your bike along the middle of the road; i don't wanna spoil your adrenaline rush.

Don't want to look to much of a retard but i never gave breakdown cover a look i just said "ill be alright without it" never really thought of the hassle involved. Another dumb moment. Would calling breakdown cover affect the policy or claiming at all?

If i had it on my policy then i had to call them would it affect anything? I never bothered to even look at some of the stuff they offered because i had a new 125when i started this policy that came with 2years of rac cover for free.

Why participate in an activity that has a realistic possibility of serious injury or worse, then worry about getting home for tea should you run out of petrol etc ? Why take a huge risk then back up a small 'inconvenience' with breakdown cover ? Get my drift ? Sort of removes the point of having fun/running risk. If fact why have fully comp insurance to cover damage to a bike that quite possibly not you but only your estate will benefit from ? Its a money scheme that feeds off insecurities yet the 'proposer' seems oblivious to the real nasty around the corner. I can understand car drivers needing breakdown but not motorcyclists,it just doesn't go together. Strange

Not that i've ever heard - the only thing it can sometimes affect is the breakdown itself, like some policies have a call out limit per year before they start charging additional fee's per call out - and some also should for example you breakdown due to x-thing breaking, and you can't show reasonable proof you got it fixed when you break down for the same reason a month later, they may again refuse it under your policy and request additional payment.

I normally get my breakdown seperate to the insurance though, found it tends to be cheaper that way [when its even offered by insurers].

OP you hit it right on the nose! why ruin a day out being driven home in a nice comfy truck when you could be pushing for 40 miles with burnt hands? When my bike caught fire on Clee Hill the only thing that spoiled my day was the breakdown truck.

My missus bike broke up the peaks. She had a very boring SAFE ride home in an AA truck with the bike on the back!

I'd have laughed to see her try and push it home Rolling Eyes

Later that day (after being up 31 hours) my coils decided they didn't really want to spark anymore.

I was very thankful for my breakdown cover then!

Just in case? I have breakdown cover that covers ME rather than my car or bike which is fortunate as I am averaging more breakdowns on the bike than in the car. The last time a nice RAC man had to follow me home in case I ran out of electricity again Sad

That bike was so good by the time I had finished with it.

I came out to it looking like that, moved the snow off of the seat, popped the choke on full and it started on the button.

Shame it was boring as fuck, otherwise I'd have kept it.
