This is teh accident

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjN90iHtXcI&feature=player_embedded

This is the car drivers account

The kid on the bus was my neighbor and was going to his new apartment so I gave him my FSU card so that he wouldn't have to pay to ride. He put his bike on the front rack and tried to use the card while my boyfriend, daughter and I were in the car waiting (to see if it would work) once we realized he was getting off I proceeded to make the turn (after looking both ways, of course). The video doesn't show my boyfriends arm out the window with a dollar to give to our neighbor so he could pay; so instead of turning fast to drive, I was turning slowly in order to stop in front of the bus. Now, on this road in Tallahassee (Mission road) there's a curve and a small hill. I believe that when I looked left, mr. O' Leary was coming up that hill which is why he wasn't seen. He was speeding because if you look closely at the video you can see him try to apply his front brakes which causes the back wheel to rise a little. If he were to be going the posted speed limit, 30 mph, I believe the accident could have been avoided. I wasn't the only one who didn't see him coming, the bus driver even admits that "he came out of nowhere". Although I was cited, it was simply because he had the right of way because I was not fully established in the lane going east. But the insurance company stated that just because a person is cited doesn't mean that they are at fault. Both our insurances covered the costs of the accident and my insurance is currently in the process of getting a percentage of my deductible back from mr. O' leary's insurance company. I am not and have never been an unsafe driver. That is my first accident and with my family being in the car, the last thing I would be is reckless. It is nothing short of a miracle that he survived.

I am in no way trying to play the blame game and I would have been traumatized if mr. O' Leary suffered extensive injuries but I can see where we are both at fault. I should have taken extra caution and he should not have been speeding. I learned from this accident and I'm sure that he has to

It's hard to say how fast he was going from the short clip although I'd guess that it was over 30. Not that it should matter when some daft bint thinks her daily pottering about takes precedence over road traffic laws.

Her excuses are pointless but she is right, they were both at fault. Anyone who is going that fast (looked pretty fast to me) in a 30 deserves what they get. Keep the big speeds to the big roads and all will be well!

Noob mistake from the rider heading for the closing gap rather than the opening space behind the car.

In fairness there isn't a lot of video to go on but from that short clip if it was somehow proved he was doing closer to 60 than 30 I wouldn't be surprised. Not saying it automatically makes him in the wrong but in this case clearly there are junctions and pedestrians/children around, he learned the hard way!

Same comment as every other time this has been posted:

Dopey driver + raging rider = conspiracy to commit calamity. That needed both of them to cock it up.

I'm not so sure about the speed, he seemed to be going the same speed as the white car at the beginning of the clip.

Both still mongoloids for pulling a shitty maneuver/not looking out for shitty maneuvers.

I would also go for the closing gap. You assume they will eventually see you and stop - leaving a small gap to pass. Going round the back only works if they continue and then its still a long uncertain path round a car.

You simply dont make a manouver this slowely without continuously checking for traffic. Im interested in what our highway code says? What is the point where slow or hesitant driving becomes unsafe?? I see it every day. Not to mention the hesitant fucks at roundabouts, whom I reguallly filter past on the near side - Im filtering and I can see it will be clear from 3-5 cars back and when I get to the front you havent started to move yet!!! why?!?

He was going too fast to stop or avoid, in a residential area with buses and junctions. That's really all that matters.

I agree, If I see a bus and i'm going too fast i'll slow incase it's about done dropping people off and about to pull out, let alone the car poking out the other side

Driver a cunt never looked and gave the rider 0 chance in hell of avoiding the accident. The rider only option was to either go over the hood or smash into the bus and die.

I know what you mean, it's a British thing dithering!
It's one of the first things I noticed when I got back, in most other countries, if there's a gap you fill it!
Over here it's not unusual to have a Mexican stand off at a roundabout where everyone is waiting for someone else to go first, unfuckingbelievable!!!!! Rolling Eyes
