People of BCF, I am trying to stitch up a work colleague with a rather excessive secret Santa gift (sort of top gear style).

My original thought was to get him a massive lamp, broken fridge/freezer, old wing-back chair - basically any ole shite i can get from free-cycle to present him with at the works Christmas do.

However, as he is learning to drive so my latest idea is get him a car.

So, I need to acquire a car that is road legal (even if it is a week worth of tax and test and just on the legal limit tyres) the shitter/more obscene the better but needs to run (just).

I am based on the south coast nr brighton area, are people able to keep their eyes open on any other forums they read etc or if anybody has a car they just want removing from their lives to help support the stitch up?

Or will this be a feat too far? I have until December 6th.

Any car is worth £150 - £200 just as scrap.

Why not fill up with £30 of Shell V-Power and buy the Shell Lego Ferrari for £1.49?
Counts as buying him a car, right?

I think this could be funny, but might be a little too much effort. Something like a car seat might be funnier.

As above - the days of the £30 car with a week's MOT left are long gone - even if you got one, if it ran it wouldn't be much of a stitch up as it's the equivalent of giving them over £160 in most cases.

What about a teenagers peddle go kart or similar?

For the reason's stated above it simply wouldn't work in today's cash for car/webuyanycar.com world.

I will have to stick with plan A which is something ridiculous from freecycle - it just has to be cumbersome and useless/naff.

I will, of course be getting a proper "gift" as something he likes. It's more the idea of wrapping an old persons wing back chair up and presenting it whilst everybody else exchanges box's of roses, novelty desk items and lynx shower gel sets.

Cheaper than a real car.

Am I the only one who would actually appreciate a wing back chair?
