IS THIS THE FUTURE OF MOTORCYCLE HELMETS?

The motorycle helmet, which is currently listed on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, comes with technology and features so powerful only fighter pilots currently have access. The project already has the financial backing and support from the Moscow Department of Science and several other Russian organizations, but LiveMap is looking for additional funding to get it up and running.

No.

Next.

Don't need GPS directions. Vague directions gaffa taped to the tank are far more fun and the battery doesn't go flat on them.

Lids save your head because they are filled with foam.

So removing the foam and filling it with hard bits of electronic fail are not a good idea.

And I take it all all goes to shit when you lift the visor up?

Think they're getting "the past" mixed up with the future?

None of that is new really.

Ok, not sure about mapping on a HUD, but the Veypor SportVue HUD has been around for 7 years and works with your conventional helmet.

In helmet headphones much longer than that.

Google Glass V2~V3 [and its clones] will provide this cheaply to anyone who wants it, using their own helmets.

Haha! That does look pretty cool. My best mate is an engineer, and he's building me a comms unit for me and my OH for my birthday Very Happy It's really just so we can still play the yellow car game (and so i can direct him when he gets lost!)

I bet this would be too expensive to become popular, but lovely idea.

An in helmet display would be brilliant. Most of the functions could run straight off a smart phone - gps, speed, comms.
Pull your lid on, press a button on the side so it connects to your phone and off you ride.

Reality tells us that the best thing to happen to crash helmets since I can remember is a pinlock insert, maybe followed by the flip down sun visor.

I'd rather see the road.
&
The patch of diesel that the daft twat Astra driver has spilled because he has over filled his tank.
&
The silly bint in the Megane who pulls out because she is incapable of seeing a 20 stone bloke in a Hi-Viz riding a ruddy great Kwakka with his headlight on in broad daylight.
&
The Tractor that has stopped for a right turn but hasnt got a single working rear light (& hasnt had since 1968) let alone an indicator.
&
My mate mick coming the other way so I can give him a nod.

If I want to watch interweb Pr0n or a map I'll pull over for 5 and a smoko.

I'm getting horrific images of 'smart lids' with touch sensitive visors so you can switch between the GPS map, your home screen, twitter feed, facebook page and some Daily Sport XXX app.. all with the swipe of a finger Neutral

Presumably, but it doesn't pay much considering they've been pledged $5,779 out of their $150,000 target. Very Happy

I believe that was in response to some rather lengthy spam, which has now been wormed.

I'm waiting for the suit/helmet setup from deadspace 3 so I can ride around like a boss.

If that is to scale it would mean that helmet is about 4" thick on top of your head.

Not only would this be very dangerous when you crash as the extra weight will give much more momentum to your head, and cause it to hit down with a greater force, you will also look like a fucking berk.

I guess it'd be the very first time when a firefighter would need to use tools for cutting cars open to take this off your head after a crash, because it would definitely dent and lock your head in. Another example of too much time spent with video games, I'd say Laughing

Just stumbled across this on Indie GoGo and searched for it here.. They've only funded about 5% of their total goal, but it does seem a bit ridiculous for $2000 per lid, when it's hardly "essential".

Link for anyone interested in following their campaign.

For those who live in EU, if this somehow got into production, it'd be banned in whole EU right away anyway. Thumbs Up

Unless BMW wanted to sell it.

Thumbs Up Mr. Green

Agree with Goto10's comment; Google Glass or hopefully an android based equivalent should be able to do this in the near future, it's one thing that'd make me look into that tech seriously.

Speed readout, oil/water temps (or the warning lights for them), indicator repeater, trip distance for working out tank range.. maybe turn-by-turn satnav if you want it but mostly all the things you make a habitual frequent glance at the clocks for would be good?

Would require a sender box on the bike to pick up the feeds, blue-tooth paired to the glasses but that'd be pretty doable?
