Evening,

Just bought a new bike, looking for a decent motorbike chain and was wondering if anyone on here has any suggestions on some?

I don't really mind about the price, and im not fussed about it helping the insurance (Sure its a bonus but not necessary). Just want something which will do the best job it can and give me them few extra seconds or mins to stop thieves.

Cheers!

Almax Thumbs Up

Personally i'd get a cheap alarmed disc lock too if the bike doesnt' already have an alarm.

Chain it TO something at least though, just putting a chain on it doesn't stop it being dragged into an open van in seconds, especially if its a small bike.

Will look at them.

Already got a Oxford disc lock and the bike is a Honda so comes with HISS. Annoying thing is because of where I live there is nothing to chain it too, really find it difficult to find something. Luckily it weighs 200kg so isnt "too" light.

However im looking at ways to attach it, as I don't have a garage or drive way.

Any module of Almax that you recommend?

Wont stop the bastards sadly Sad can't find the video but theres a few youtube videos of huge big tourers R1s and all sorts getting plucked into fans like bicycles Thumbs Down

A ground anchor would be the ideal solution but if you don't have your own property to install it on you're at a bit of a loose end there i would think Confused

I'd just go for the best almax you can get/afford really. I know a mate of mine who parks near another bike spoke to the owner and they chain their wheels together and share the chains keys [obviously you need to rely on them to not be dodgy/forget to rechain it], but it means its a lot harder at least to drag the two bikes away together.

Cheers for the helpful reply.

Gone on their website tonight and will most likely order one once ive checked my money. Was thinking of writing to the council to get a ground anchor, however I knew that I'd be wasting my time.

My solution at the moment is to chain it to a mates van outside as he barely uses it. Has a nice thick metal loop in it where the chain will fit nicely through and isn't to much hassle to get too, looks like the best shot for now.

Where I live is on a raised bit of land which you have to get too by steps or a pedestrian slope, I do have a concrete base outside for my old bike which I use to park on. I use to ride it up the slope at 5mph and leave it there, however a neighbour complained to the police and I can't do that anymore. Too awkward to get up the slope by pushing, unless there is any alternatives you can think of to get it up it.

Would like to see the law that would prevent you from doing so... pretty sure you are allowed if you are getting it to your accommodation. Also, ask the police if they'd rather you spent the 30 seconds doing this or having a call every hour to check where your bike is as its been stolen Wink

I ride down 10 metres of pathway everyday, I iz a bad man Wink

They don't need one. They can just slap you with two S59s and steal your bike Crying or Very sad

Hmm, if they were so inclined, yes... BUT I'm sure there was a dear auntie thread about someone going along a path to get to their house and MrBorg showed him some holes.

Police already threatened me with a S59, honestly hate some neighbours as there is no reason to complain. I know who did it anyway.

For a while after wards id push my bike up to make a point with the engine running and give it a few revs past their house. That was with a 125 though and was easy, getting a 500 up the slopes is going to be hard going to push.
