Soon I'm gonna have to find myself a new machine to enjoy, oh what a shame. The mrs will be having her beloved sv650 back and I will have to move onto something else. In a ideal world I'd splash done serious dollar on a daytona 675 but at this moment in time we are saving for houses and all sorts so I need to operate on more of a budget.

So what would you buy for £1500.

It must be;

* Sensibly reliable as to not miss out on valuable riding time.
* Sporty enough for a hoon with the lads of an evening
* Comfy enough to tour for a week around Europe
* something il find interesting and enjoy
* be not above insurance group 16

Can't think of much else. Ideas please peeps...

For me, my ZX6r fits all of those requirements.

It's been pretty damn reliable too despite a lot of abuse.

Plus you can get them for peanuts now!

I love my ZX6 but this is a no no in my opinion, did it once - never again Rolling Eyes

What about an Suzuki SV perhaps Thinking

Not THE most comfortabe for touring but not quite so aggressive on the wrists etc for longer trips.

I currently ride an SV650, I would consider the SV1000. I'm not that impressed with suzuki build quality but I can live with it if I could find a tidy enough one for 1500 quid.

I like the easyness of the ride of the sv650, although the poor suspension and brakes arnt great. I also find my nuts tend to slide towards the tank quite alot on the seat so maybe not the most comfortable??

Really!

Don't tell people as if they are in school to discuss something, make a statement and then they will decide for themselves, or the fact you made a statement opens it up for discussion.

A very big pet hate of mine.

Just to keep u happy I've removed it from the title !!

I'd agree it's not THE comfiest but it does the job. I might have had a better experience due to having an older model than you Matt as the J1 is more touring orientated than the later models.

Sorry yeah i meant an SV1000 - just finished a night shift Rolling Eyes

Maybe an older yam fazer also Question Nothing exciting particularly either but fast enough for fun and bit more comfy for touring than the full on hardcore sports bikes.

No worries, would a semi decent sv1000 be obtainable for the budget though?!

Been told that these have a very aggressive forward riding position? Not necessarily the comfiest for longer rides? But obviously ticks the hoonage box

I'm going two up touring on my K2, 2.5k miles round Europe, I leave Friday.

They're not bad for a sports six.

The K2 (similar shape indeed to my GSXR750 Y model) should be more than comfortable.

You will find a VFR800 in your budget, I've found them as low as £1200, shit, one went for £850 locally, was yellow and had 35k though. Laughing

I've never really been much of a fan of the kawasaki models tbh but there is so many about at such good prices I almost feel ignorant not to consider one now tbh. I had a Z750 and to be fair it was hell of a bike!

It does also look like the k1/2 gixxers are a good choice aswell. Plenty about at good prices. Would I get a 750 under 1.5k and are they a better choice than the six?

Something like this?

I think I'd go with a kawasaki provided it wasn't green, that may sound odd but I like my bikes to be a bit different!
