Hah!

That's a hedge trimmer surely? I think even my 4-stroke 125 sounded better than that. :/

Can I borrow yours then if they sound like a single-cylinder 400 Phoenix? lol

It is about 5 times louder than the stock exhaust and it changes the engine noise completely, anyone heard a stock XTC to compare?

Try playing in Winamp with the first 3 bass equalizers at full and output through a decent stereo set to Flat to get a rough reproduction of the sound...I am using a 160W Technics separates to play thru so maybe that explains the sad response... Embarassed

The sound clip isn't great but I will get a better one if I can, here's a pic so you can see the beast...

I've seen that model of the xtc at some meets and the exhaust is tiny, a pea shooter as some would say, double barreled pea shooter by the looks of it.

Yeah it is a double barrel pea shooter mate! Laughing

There are tiny pipes up and back round the can before it spits it out those tiny holes so it does restrict it a tiny bit and it makes it sound so...weak

Hence me changing it, other option is to cut the stock can open and mod it to a straight through then remove the pea-shooter bits but I want to keep the stock just in case I need it (fingers crossed).

we're not forgetting you have to start somewhere, but if you don't wanna be mocked then don't say your 125 4st sounds like a 400 because it doesn't. I don't know if it was you Mr I'm an XTC, but there was a guy looking very lonely on one at Bassetts Pole lastweek and it certainly didn't sound like a 400 or a KTM 550, and it did have an aftermarket can. It's like CBR125s with cans on, the microns they do for them are huge for a 125 yet they sound like a lawnmower.

To be honest I'm always a bit cautious about speeding down past D&K since I managed to get pulled over down there when the police were out in force pulling everyone, they like hiding just over the bank past the college.

Love the implication in the "looking very lonely" pmsl and no, it wasn't me at Basset's Pole ta.

There is a bad vibe in this forum for all your talk of Karma, not one constructive comment or query just people taking the piss because I have a 4t 125 and want it to look ride and sound better.

Thanks for that. I won't bother putting up any more pix or sound clips.

Its not about criticism and unfriendliness IMO.
Its about a number of things:

A) This forum originates from NSR125.com and so has a soft spot for two stroke 125's

B) There is a lot of advice on this forum regarding spending money on mods on a 125. To paraphrase Dr Samuel Johnson from Blackadder III:
Modifying a 125 is like fitting wheels to a tomato; time consuming and ultimately pointless.

See, the thing is, the general opinion on this forum is that money spent on these mods could just as well be spent on test training and then a bigger bike. We have nothing against 125's of course, we were all there once!

C) Saying stuff like "Sounds like a 400" Doesn't tend to go down too well... it would be the same if some bloke with a CBR600 came on and said "It eats Blades". I have to admit it sounds very good for a 125... but "sounds like a 400" is not really how I would describe it. (actually it sounds like a track from the Bike mag 'world of noise' CD The BMW F650CS with a remus pipe. Basically a 4t single)

D) I would inagine that a very free flowing pipe on a 125 single would really screw up the fuelling unless it has been rejetted, K&N Filter etc etc.

E) You posted the sound and asked for an opinion and that is what you got...

Don't leave the forum, hang around. We're a good lot once you get to know us! The people that replied with the bad comments werent being unfriendly (They arent that sort of people Laughing) Just look at point E above Wink

Welcome to the forum I'm in XTC and rossirep46! Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Marjay is right, a lot of people here have a soft spot for 2 strokes, I had an RS 125 myself but most people here had an NSR once so a lot of people don't like 4 stroke 125's straight away, kind of biased but thats the way it is.

This is a friendly forum and if you look at other posts you will notice that help and advice is given out all over the place, were a friendly bunch really. Saying that you bike sounds like a 400 doesn't go down well when the bike sounds nothing like a 400, Mikes CBR 250 with a sports can doesn't even sound like a 400, that may have something to do with it screaming at 19,000 revs.

If we weren't a friendly bunch I wouldn't have pointed out that I have seen rossierep around I would have just left it and totally ignored you if I see you on the road again, if I do see you around you'll be sure to get a nod!
