Good turn out, 1600 bikes apparently.
Lamb and mint pasty went down very nicely and I thought I'd get bent over regarding the beer prices but I was nicely suprised. Thumbs Up

I went, didn't see a single bike on the journey there until I hit the A422/A43 roundabout - I'm guessing they all sat on the A43. Anyhoo, parked in the school carpark where the air cadets were stacking the bikes 3 deep, with a grizzled Harley type arguing with a 50 year old boy scout shouting "how the fuck am I supposed to get my bike out?".

Became one of the marching morons waddling up the hill, shuffling like hobbled penguins through the entrance. Most of the display I saw seemed to be "Who's got the loudest pipe?". Some of the static displays were OK,although there was an annoying rockabilly trio who played the same song over and over, just changing the words each time.

If there was a burger van I couldn't find it, and the queues for Subway/Costa were stupid. Wandered around the "main arena" and decided that I'd rather be riding a bike than shuffling along looking at them.

Overall, I should have spent the £5 on fuel.

I was there for nearly 5 hours (9:40am to 2:30pm). I spent time mainly on the grass in the main "play area" also went to Costa and walked around the main street and looked at the bikes.

I liked it, my son loved it. I did not buy anything, I didn't really see any bargains.

I will go again next year. It's only 20 miles away.

I posted some photos...

My friend went, I didn't, I was showing him how to edit film this evening after he was dropping off a spare battery I loaned him, and I saw the wall of death and the static wheelie machine.

Wall of death had an entrance fee, on top of paying to get in? Thumbs Down

Static wheelie thing looked fun.

Was it a show, or a nanny state lecture fest?*

Um, not really a show. Nor a nanny fest. Just a few trade standards. Moto Gymkhana, some trials, and a rock band.

It's great that they're doing it, but I've seen it done far better.

Mooched around for about half an hour then left. Didn't pay to get in though.

I saw the same bloke, we'd parked just opposite, probably one of many.
He was walking in and out of the gap he was supposed to get out of, ranting and moaning, throwing his arms in the air.
His missus looked very embarassed.
He ended up nudging the bike blocking him in and setting off the alarm which made us laugh even louder.

Agreed. The walk was longer than expected and there were plenty of times along the way when we all thought we should have parked in the field.
The 'loudest pipe' thing was quite tiresome when we were sitting outside the Costa trying to have a conversation.

We were quite lucky, we saw the monster queue at the burger van but the pasty van next door was empty.
Lamb and mint, its the way forward.

Overall I thought it was ok.
The distance from me made it a decent rideout and the prices in general weren't as bad as I'd though.
It was a lot bigger and better than Longfield in Stevenage where I usually go.
