Hi all,

not sure if this is the right place to put this!

The father unit and I are out and about together at weekends, finding it difficult to communicate where we are going on a run.

What do you guys use to chat on the road?

Radio/PMRs?, bluetooth on the old iphone, something else?

any suggestions, links or beware of these tips would be much appreciated.

I don't. Last thing I want is someone wittering away when I'm out on the bike.

If I go on a run with others, we work a leader-follower system. If you're in the lead and going to turn off, you wait for the person behind you before continuing.

I have a Scala G4 system that I can't recommend enough. Amazon had them on offer a few months back, they maybe worth a look.

I use the Sena SHM10 with my wife. She *doesn't* yap much at all. We might say 10 words in an hour, but it has transformed our rides. We no longer have to guess what the other is thinking.

"Should we stop here or are you OK to wait for a break?"

That kind of stuff, which is difficult to do with sign language.

Agreed. It's also - in my opinion - quite nice to share your thoughts with somebody else whilst riding.

I was particularly impressed with the VOX feature on the G4.

Autocom and Starcom seem to be the only decent systems.

Most of the others are mono (who wants to listen to their music in mono?), and don't let you use your own ear buds. Some you're stuck with the default mic too.

Mono? Which one of the mentioned systems are mono?
