I would have given the ped a slap for being a tit. Pelican crossing 10 yard away. Nobber.

I'm going to put it out there and say that's just one of those things... Who as a pedestrian hasn't walked through stand still traffic to cross the road.

She's going down the minute she sees him as its inevitable reflex reaction to slam on and turn. When something pops up like that in your vision.

Looking at it again you could claim its a little bit of poor obs as well, as the light is green and the van isn't moving despite the big gap. She powers on when she was probably better rolling off in case a) there's a pedestrian in front of the van or b) half a sleep van driver gets a honk from behind and suddenly accelerates forward because the lights changed and he missed, it just as she try's to filter in before the island.

"That's the second time that's happened me."

So she didn't learn that pedestrians cross roads at places other than designated crossings after she hit the first one?

When filtering in slow moving traffic I am always aware of blind spots in front of any vans or buses, where pedestrians may walk out from.

A motorcycle training place by me posted this on facebook the other day and some woman kept arguing with us all saying she was adamant that it was the bikers fault.

This is a daily occurrence, and most of them wear fucking earphones. Rolling Eyes

I call them lemmings in London. I like creeping up on the ones with Headphones on then giving them a blast of my Steble Nautilus 139db Air Horn. Usually get them at least 2ft off the ground Laughing

Lovely attitude from that girl - those who f and blind over the slightest thing should learn a little.

However, she is at least partially to blame in my opinion, bad filtering - shouldn't filter if you can't see it's clear.

People squeezing through the gaps of static cars is totally predictable.

Still, maybe after three times she might learn.

As a ped your normally looking left at that point of the road, as a biker if no oncoming your normally right out giving wide birth, if she had died would he be charged??? if he had died would she be charged???

For me it's biker fault as well.
She could ride in the middle of right lane when overtaking for better view, visibility and more space for reaction.

People do stupid stuff all the time but it's our responsibility to avoid dangerous situations and stay alive.

Disagree. Yes, there is a list of things that the biker could have been doing, and not doing them was a mistake. However, it is the pedestrians fault.

Reminds me a bit of when I hit a rather fat lady on my rs 125 years ago Laughing
She ran across the road (1 lane inner city) and I had no time to stop but managed to get my speed down to not very fast. Hit her hard and broke my mirror. Her friends then gave her abuse and apologised to me and gave me a bottle of water haha

I hit someone who jumped off the back of a routemaster bus on Edgeware road - and some woman on the pavement screamed just like that.

Best I ever did was pick a lady up and carry her about 3 meters on the front of my cbr. Stupid woman ran from behind me to the left and darted in front of me as the lights went green and I pinned it. It provoked a similar scream.
