So I bought a GoPro Hero HD 2
I went out, recorded until the battery died.
Made a test video after trying out the camera.
If anyones interested in a GoPro, this is the quality you can expect:

The audio at slow speed is okay, not spectacular, any speeds over 30mph, you'll hear nothing but wind!
So a mic is required if you are wishing to record good sound.

Video quality is fairly good, nice and crisp most of the time.
I made this youtube video and it gives an idea of the video quality.
Note, I did add some colour correction to this.

Camera looks hazy... my Hero HD records better than that Neutral Colour correction makes it far worse.

Also, lets hope you don't come off with no gloves on, otherwise you won't be able to operate the button for the GoPro Wink

Still tinkering with the camera settings, and still learning to edit video.
Hopefully soon I'll have the settings down and I can produce quality contet.

What settings are you using on your Hero?

Standard. 720p or 1080 when I'm flash.

Looks like you sprayed the lens with WD40 before you left.

I use my Hero 2 on the 1080p@30fps setting and it's great for what I use it for. Bit of a contrast and saturation boost in post and you're golden.

Trouble is with all these cameras now is that it's as much the settings/format you export/render the video to that can make the quality take a massive dive even if you have the best footage in the world to begin with. The camera is only half the story.

The only time I had misting problems on mine is when I took it into a heated swimming pool on holiday but I wasn't expecting any kind of decent results.

Not had any misting problems when mountain biking or motorcycling.

Just a question about filming in low light conditions, is it always this grainy/low quality or am I just doing it wrong?

(This is a video I took last night of pikeys...being...well pikeys)

I didn't say that did I? Just offering my experiences.

Lower light conditions mean the camera will be setting a higher ISO which will make the image more grainy (noisy). There's not much you can do about it as there's only so much technology you can fit in these little cameras. They are getting better all the time and the latest crop of action cameras will be a fair bit better than the Hero 2 in low light but bear in mind how much you're paying and adjust your expectations accordingly.

The video seems very blurry.

As long as he doesn't start talking to the camera about uninteresting subjects nothing wrong with playing with the camera.

Please don't. Don't post any shit about people not indicating, pedestrian crossing road randomly or car drivers crossing your path or tailgating. BORING! Thumbs Down

Any videos from nice places, crashes, broken frames, twisted forks Thumbs Up

Even falling off at 10mph without gloves is going to fuck your hands, they're the first thing you put out towards the ground! I've fallen off my bicycle a few times at speed, and it's always my hands that get hurt the most.

Yeah, but I'm not a new rider, I'm hard as nails and rode an R1, brap. I've had far worse than a few scuffed fingers, I'm likely to die before I'm 40 from an illness anyway, so I have nothing to lose.

This guy has hands that he may want to keep using Wink

You made any more videos yet?

Do another one, but make sure you get hold of some decent editing software (i.e not Windows Movie Maker) and try to minimise any quality loss by changing formats and compressing it too much. After having a 5 minute lesson at the roadside from KLR in video editing and production I am now an expert so if you've got any other questions feel free to ask.

Just don't throw the camera in the bin because you think it's rubbish. If you want to actually see what quality it's capable of did you try plugging it into the TV to watch back the raw footage?
