I'm leaving blighty via the tunnel on Thursday morning, into France, Belgium and likely a bit of a nosy in Brussels before heading to Tilburg in the Netherlands for the night.

7:30am Friday I will be collecting a package in Tilburg and heading the 180 miles back to the tunnel, back to blighty and on 110 miles to Cambridge.

If anyone is bored and fancies a brief visit into euro for all or part of the trip the tunnel will cost you £30 return and a room for the night about the same.

Once the packet is collected I won't be stopping other than for fuel, food (maybe) and the tunnel and looking to be in Cambridge before 2pm, of course, you won't need to follow me back to the tunnel, Cambridge or anywhere. It won't be an excessive speed trip, with good empty roads there is no real need to risk a large fine.

Just thought someone might fancy tagging along for the hell of it.

Not doing anywhere near as much as i was, taking it easy.

As it goes, I definitely will not be stopping once I get this collection on board as the nature of the customer dictates.

I'm making the crossing over at 7.30am on Thursday morning to go to Switzerland. I usually take the boat as I can sleep on it.

If I decide to take the star, look me up. It'll be a last-minute decision for me.

If you see a built, 17 stone Samoany-looking dude and a bit of a belly (think Samoan belly) with a 19 inch neck on a CB1300, it's me. I'm the wrong side of 40 and balding. I'm a pussycat, though, so don't be alarmed if you catch sight of the occasional missing tooth (rugby).

If we do see each other, probably would let you go as I'm in no hurry and tend to trundle at 100mph and will peel off to see a sight or 2.

Ride safe & have a good trip.

I will be taking the star. So cheap right now it's ridiculous. Looking forward to a cold beer by Lake Geneva tomorrow.

It costs them less to carry you if you are not staying long.
less than 48hrs and in the dead of night will get you out and back for £24+
Stay 3 days or more and you are looking at £60 at least rising to £80ish unless you are feeling special and want to be first on first off and a seat in a lounge for the special people for £200

Confused.

I was talking about a the price of a single ticket on the Eurotunnel.

The length of time they have to carry you never changes. The crossing takes the roughly the same time every time.

Cost me £32 return. Reason is short trips cost less. Stay a week and it'll cost more. Stay a day and it'll cost less.

On a more positive note, Jesus H Christ. Just rode the Jura national park in Switzerland and a load of roads coming up to it. My God.

F"cking fan-tastic. It's like a mini Stelvio. Need to look out for the local fuzz but there were sportsbikers on there who really knew it and were having a ball. Hairpin turns, twisting mountain roads, perfect sunsets, burnt my chicken strips right off. Have to go back to do it again. And the roads leading up to it in France weren't bad and found some nice twisties in beautiful, perfect sunshine.

Unfortunately, my CB ate my chain and sprockets when I did it but what the h@ll... what a road! And don't need to buy the vignette because it goes into Geneva via the back way.

If ever you're in the vicinity, check out the Jura national park in Switzerland - not the one in France - they're completely different. My God, it's a good road.

All done, one very happy new customer with promises of possibly a few of these a month.

Left Salisbury before 8am on Thurs to go get a rear tyre at Micheldever tyres near winchester since they were £30 cheaper than the motorcycle shop in Salisbury who wanted me to take just the wheel in Rolling Eyes

Arrived at the tunnel about midday and got on an earlier train, into calais for food purchase and then on to Belgium and the atomium for yet another atomium/bike pic.
Into Meer and Magda & toon frut, a very decent quality chippie for burger and chips and up into the netherlands and Tilburg, checked out the collection address so that I wouldn't be looking around for it in the morning making me late, as it was it's an easy one despite no signs to give it away.

Filled up with fuel so i could get back to calais without stopping and to the hotel 10 miles away which was over a bar. Beer followed in the garden in what looked like a large champagne glass.

Am, up at 6:30 local time and back to the collection point for 7:20 and the offer of coffee.

Off to calais but broke the rules by stopping for a minute to get a photo for the bcf pfoto challenge (my bike in a mcdonalds drive through)

Made it to the tunnel with minutes to spare before the check in close time of 10:20 and back to blighty. Delivered in Cambridge nearly 2 hours early at 12:15.

Back to salisbury at 4pm via lunch courtesy of the shell station on the north orbital at chiswell green.

Total of 870 miles
The route
