Alright guys,

I've been a bit dicked over by Uni - I missed a hand in date for some coursework back in April due to having mumps, and my new hand in date is the 5th. Problem is, even though I have the footage I need (I'm creating a three minute news package) I can't edit my footage on the uni computers as the media suite is and has been locked for a month or two now.

The footage is contained in MXF files, and I now need an editing program to piece it all together - the uni computers have Avid Newscutter, but to be honest they aren't going to know what I've edited it on.

Tried a few torrent sites for Avid, can't find it.

Can anyone help me out or suggest a different editor I can use?

Thanking you

Karma Thumbs Up

It's all spyware mate, really struggling with this. Torrent sites have gone to shit these days! The files are all 'direct download' instead of going through bit torrent, they're all small iso files that require you to run them but the publisher, 'cool mirage ltd', comes up as spyware when I google it.

LOL

That one i linked you to, i have scanned for virii and malware/spyware.

It's clean.

The keygen will always show up as a virus, dont worry about it.

Just copy the magnet link and plonk it in the "add torrent from url" box.

Cheers Cansa, do appreciate..

right I've downloaded the iso, do I burn it to a disk and then install it or something? Is it that easy? I don't have a lot of discs to waste haha...

Considering how decent I am at computers at a basic level, I'm still fucking useless if I haven't done something before Laughing

Sod that.

Either mount it to a virtual drive or just extract the files. No need for a disk unless you want to keep a hard copy.

I haven't used Windows in quite a long time now. I used to use an older version of Daemon Tools Lite on Windows. It supported the mechanisms that allowed me to play my security-enabled ISOs that I ripped (1:1) as if it was the genuine disk. Later versions still had the functionality... but it didn't work. Can't remember which version it was.

I doubt you'd need anything too fancy though.

Personally I'd grab WinRar and pull the files out of the ISO. Usually there's an Autorun file which you click. There's also usually some form of crack folder or text file which you should read. That'd be my first port of call.

If that doesn't work, then (and only then) I'd start faffing around with a virtual drive:

My only reason for leaving the virtual drive as a last resort is because you'll never use the thing again so it's a waste. WinRar is a handy tool.
