Has anyone got an E627 and if so could you run me off a set of restore discs. I will of course pay for the discs and the postage.

If not can anyone direct me to a download?

Thank you.

if you still have the recovery partition you can reboot from that
it will be the F8 or F11 key on bootup if my memory isn't playing tricks on me

It's a rebadged acer, so Alt F10, if the partition is still there but the laptop can't boot, you can also use a boot disk and simply make the recovery partition active. I'm guessing the product key on the base has rubbed off? If so it might be worthwhile trying a set of acer disks also if you've definitely not got a recovery partition, whilst I've not personally tried it, they may well use the same oem key.

I recently had this issue with an acer ultrabook I bought, it had been wiped in the past but they only put 32 bit windows on it and wiped the recovery partition.

I contacted a seller on ebay for the restore discs which cost me £15 but all is up and running all be it with all the bloatware that comes with big oem installs.

If you can't find a specific branded install disc you can always make one or modify one from an existing brand by following guides online,

Download the oem assessment tool from the link provided on the below thread, it will let you know what activation strings you have to play with.

Can you not just download the appropriate version of Windows, use the key supplied and windows update for the drivers for extra laziness points?

I should imagine it is an xp machine so windows update is less useful, for a fresh install he will still need to trawl for drivers.
