If they were a real jobsworth they'd fine you or whatever.

However, most human police officers will be able to see that you're not causing any harm and just having a quick go round a car park.

Legally, no.

In practice, you might.

As long as it's a public carpark, the normal road laws apply. If you could find a private one that you were allowed to use, then I don't believe the police could do anything.

If there is public access to the car park then you'd be done for driving without a license, insurance and probably numerous other things as well. If it's private land (and I don't mean your local Tesco's carpark!), and you have the land owner consent then you're okay. No matter how experienced your friend is, he could be an advanced police instructor, but at the end of the day the law is the law and if you get caught you can't really moan that loudly.

You could not be let off as "you're learning to ride" as you're not old enough to be doing so on the roads yet so they won't take any notice of this.

You'd have to pay for a CBT anyway.

I took my CBT in November 2000, and began to ride geared bikes in Junes 2001, and I didn't need to re-do my CBT again, then again the law may have changed since then. Smile.

Technically no you don't have to pay for another CBT as long as it's still valid.

I probably would to get used to riding a geared bike.

Just be warned though even though it may be a private car park if there's nothing to obstruct joe public getting into the car park (e.g. barriers) it is still classed as a public highway, therefore within the remit of the Road Traffic Act, so you'd need to be insured, taxed & licensed etc..

Hope this helps

No?

Unless the law has changed since April 2003, you don't have to take another CBT.

Just find yourself a quiet road and teach yourself, or get your dad to show you.
