Asking for someone else:

Quote:
My son's got a 2010 YZF r 125. It's been SORNed since 2011, so off road for about 2 years at his base.

Brought it home about 6 months ago, had a quick go at starting it and it started first time. It's been started a couple of times since.

Last night however, it failed to start, battery ran down, and we tried it with jump leads with still no joy. Engine turns over.

Spark plug appears dry.

Question: Should it be able to start with jump leads? And is it likely that the petrol's just gone off and needs renewing?

Thanks, in advance, for any help

Any knowledgable folk here can help?

Drain fuel, splash a few litres of fresh stuff and jump it from a car.

Can't see the battery being good after 2 years.

Adding a small amount of petrol through the spark plug hole can help poke it to life, but at your own risk obviously Wink

Could definently be due to bad fuel, I would drain your tank and carb and refill with fresh stuff. If the plug is still dry after turning over check carb for blockages
If you've got fuel on the plug but it still wont start check your plug is sparking
