This made me laugh.. I was doing the usual hypothetical 'next bike' quotes. I've been getting them for CBR600RR's for a while now, usually 08-09 year, value around £4.5k.

Only recently I've started to really like the Hannspree colour scheme, and I've only just noticed on the usual insurance comparison sites, that they've got 'CBR600RR Hannspree' listed as a separate model Confused

So I got quotes for both that version and regular CBR's, with every other detail the same..

Regular ones were coming out at £530-650 TPFT, whereas the Hannspree was £730 TPFT at the cheapest!

What the hell is that about? Have they suddenly decided it's a more desirable / stealable version? It's literally just a colour scheme, not a single other part is different on it.. They may aswell list separate models for the Repsol, Movistar, Layla etc versions..

200 bloody pounds more for a bit of lime green Laughing

My 636 has race colours, and unusual ones at that.
Never saw a 636 like it. I listed it as green(just like the v5 says) as there was no colour scheme option on Carole Nash.
Have you shopped around? If so - tough luck fella. Sucks tho don't it?

The thinking is probably, more noticeable. so more of a target.

Possibly harder to get plastics for, and ultimately, because we can!

It's just the 1 version they've listed though which is daft, as there's loads of different CBR's..

And I'm sure I've never seen it listed separately before, only recently, and the Hannspree was an 08-09 colour..

I'd go to a specialist insurer anyway, it wouldn't say 'Hannspree' on the V5, it'd say white or black, which is what the insurer would be told.

I could understand if it was like the Yoshimura GSX-R's, as they're super limited editions with extra parts and a higher price.. But they wouldn't / shouldn't charge more for say, a Rizla Suzuki or Fiat R6.

If theres extra money to be made they'll take it i guess, perhaps fairing-replacement grief from people in the past has made the costs a lot higher too or something.

I have a rizla rep suzuki, and as it says blue on v5 they don't know any different. Like you say it's just a colour scheme, if you purchase one just say its a cbr rr

I got quotes on two bikes, essentially the same bike but one was a standard edition, the other a 50th anniversary. Same year, same spec other than colour and a couple of "50th anniversary" badges.

The standard came out at £308 FC the 50th anniv. was £444 FC.

You have more money.

Why not?

Same reasoning behind any luxury pricing ever. Why does Waitrose sell the same item, same brand for more than Asda?

It's probably got nout to do with the colour scheme anyway, probably just the different bike

For instance, 2 hanspree bikes may give you different quotes for no reason

When I was looking at cars the other day, 2 identicle bmws where £200 difference to insure, it's a joke lol

Well, I'll probably get it cheaper once I've shopped around the specialist insurers and such.. But just as an example, it's weird that they class a colour scheme as a whole other model, when it's not.

But I'll be getting it when I turn 24 and my license becomes unrestricted, so I'll still be relatively young, plus the value of the bike, using it for commuting etc..

Sub-£500 I'd be alright with tbh, I've paid way more than that just to insure a piece of shit car. The excess is always quite high though on the results I've been getting..

Hannspree is race colours innit, dem bikes be well faster than dem normal "Race Ready" bikes blud.

The other explanation is that insurers have been "merging" with their cousins for so long that they derp de herp de derp, but what's the chances of derp?

Was the Hanspree an extremely limited edition, and from their experience the fairings and tank colour are expensive and hard to source?

Other than that, Hetzer®: because they're cunts Razz
