I had my rear wheel off (1988 ns125) to change the rear sprocket. Now I have it back on the rear brake is very sharp, its either off or on. Theres plenty of play in the lever but when the shoes meet the drum it will just lock all of a sudden.

Any ideas?

the shoes seemed ok, though i didn't inspect them thoroughly. inside the drum is pretty good too. Could it be an adjustment problem with the springs on the shoes?

Cheers

:D :D uuuuuuuuuu :D :D :D :karma:

of the brakes and its internals etc.......:D :D :D :D :D ........i know what the bike looks like...........but dont like the colour ( should be yellow with black zebra stripping to be really cool 8o) 8o) ...........

did you fit the springs correctly.......dress the shoes and service the drum...........or re fit the leading shoe as a trailing or vice versa........

looking at your pic the back brake lever is running out of mechanical advantage ( and has lots of slack in you thread ) ...........

with chain in adjustment, reposition the brake arm to its cam in the back plate so the system has mechanical advantage when brake applied, rather than running out of mech adv when applied, like it is now.

are you sure you assembled the system properly??

smiles etc dont seem to be displayed so lots of d's etc.

Not sure what half your message says, i assume you're not English. And i think ill pass on the bumble bee look, the colours are inline with the vt250 etc of that era, not that it matters to me what you think of the colour.

I didnt have the shoes off, I just removed the whole unit carrier. Ill strip them down though and refit.

suggest you look up ( read a book or google ) mechanical advantage in relation to your back brakes lever etc also leading and trailing shoe, as your bike has that arrangement at the back, all basic stuff done by english speaking people.

colour, theres nothing like good taste, be it original colour scheme or otherwise, its what floats your boat that matters.........except for the smidsy's

cam play??

i ope you can speek proper inglish like what i can! :D :D :D ( smile, smile, smile )

Is the torsion bar fitted properly The bit that stops the brake from turning in the swing arm)?
