Ok people,

Here is one for the more experienced of you.

Passed a few weeks ago and bought a 56 Plate CBF600, which I am getting into nicely.

Started taking Mrs Dolly out on the back and she is also gettign used to the sensation of it all again (used to scoot', back in the day).

Looking to get some new lids as a treat for us as the current ones are looking a little tatty around the edges.

Thinking of getting a matched pair with bluetooth built in and VOX so as to be able to chat whilst out and about.

Any recommendations of what to look at or what to avoid like the plague, not too bothered on fashion statements or brand loyalty, just safe and works well.

Cheers

Mike

Not sure about helmets with built in, but there are some excellent clip on kits which can connect to each other and you can ring people etc. not sure wgat one my mate had but it was fantastic, bout £300 for the pair of headsets

So if you don't find one you like with built in, have a look at some kits to go on helmets you like Thumbs Up probably be more expensive though

I purchased a Bluetooth helmet when I first passed, realised too late that I would not be able to swap the speakers etc when I changed helmet.

Since then I have purchased a Sena smh 5 set for me and my girlfriend. They can be moved between helmet's and the speakers are far better quality than before.

I got mine from chainspeed for about 90 quid each. Range of about 500m, battery lasts over a week at an hour a day (music through phone).

Probably the best bet, can have whatever helmets you like then

And can change your speakers to any helmet you buy in the future Thumbs Up

A helmet shop would probably do you a very good deal for buying the whole lot together

I have a Nolan N90 and an N-com bluetooth headset. The unit clips into a pre made hole in the side of my lid.

Good
1. The sound is very good and clear
2. Battery lasts a long time
3. The buttons and operation are very easy to use

Bad
1. The helmet is loud, too loud. Ear plugs are a must.
2. It's a flip up, so the microphone needs to bend every time I put on or take of my lid meaning that it snapped after about 2 months.
3. It was expensive

I wouldn't buy one again, because I want a quieter, lighter lid next.

go with getting good lids and a proper coms set a good set might well be £250 but it will last .... flip up helmets are noisy and heavy .....

I have a Sena SMH 5 kit (£200), which me and my mate paid half each for. Its good, but the the intercom range distance is not that good (200 metres max), and when playing music and riding at over 40mph, the bass is non existent.

I have the Scala rider kit. They're normally on offer on Amazon for around half their 'usual' price. It's a fantastic bit of kit and as clear as day. My other half has a cheapy lid and can hear it fine. I use a Shoei XL1000 and ear plugs and find the sound quality brilliant.

The radio is rubbish though. The connection drops out to often. Pairing it with my iPhone is brilliant. Changing tracks, phoning people and so on is extremely easy with VOX, even with a thick Welsh accent.

1. I find that screen etc makes a lot of difference to the noise levels.
I have a Nolan as well and sat behind screen its is a bit noisy (not enough for ear plugs) But stand on pegs (head in clear air) and its as silent as any lid can be.
2. you must be heavy handed, As mine is over 18 months old and still going strong.
3. Can't argue with that one at £400 all in.
But well worth it.
