Firstly im not sure if this is in the wrong area if so sorry and can someone move to correct area..

The problem a few month ago some piece of scum nicked the cdi from my bothers bike 55 plate ybr 125 they knew what they were doing as nothing was damaged and just the cdi was taken anyway we have been trying to get a hold of one since then and to be honest its like a impossible task (Can see why they stole his). He has bought a few different cdi's and so far nothing has worked he even got a electrician to see if they could get it working and they haven't the electrician suggested changing from carb to injection to which i was like that's abit more work than we wanted..

I did think of getting another cdi with matching loom and change over but wasn't sure if that would work anybody?

So im wondering anybody got any help advice so we could get it working?? as at the moment its just a paperweight

The bike is a 55 plate Yamaha ybr 125 has 6 pin cdi unit (unsure part number as was stolen) and of what we can work out so many bikes where made at X and his was made somewhere else so thats why we are having the problem. i cant remember where he said they was made sorry

Im not an expert but I would have thought a yamaha dealer would be able to get you one no matter where yours was built.

That's bollocks. If you give them the frame number any decent main dealer should be able to identify the right part.

Hi mate

I completely agree with the above statement. They should be able to get your exact parts from the frame number. All Yamaha dealers should have 'schimetics' I believe they are called which is a diagram that shows every individual part. Your frame number should provide them with the year and model of your bike.

Hope this helps

Hello can I suggest not only looking for YBR, but the XT 125 is the same engine, and Rieju use the YBR engine in one of their bikes. Also is there a chinese copy of the YBR? I'm thinking AJS did a YBR copy... check the CDI plug on one of them if you can find someone who has one.
