Just wondering if anyone had any input on a method to colour an exhaust can that will last / endure the heat etc.
I like the look of the coloured exhausts like Micron used to make, like these on eBay

Anyone know the best way to achieve such a finish?

You've got no chance of coming near to those finishes. All depends what your can is made from as to what you can do, if it's alloy then you can anodise, if it's stainless you can flame it or you can paint any type including carbon fibre type.
A professional finish of anodising or flaming, if you can find anyone who will do it, will probably cost more than buying one of the cans you like.
You can paint it with any high temperature paint, the can doesn't get that hot being at the end of the system but it will no doubt look shite.

Cheers for the reply Bezzer.

The reason I've asked is because I've fitted a full system to my bike but the can is tatty. It's a Micron stainless header but don't know what the can is made of.

I was thinking of buying a new can for it but I have come across a company called PJ Engineering who make Carbon Fibre tubes in various sizes for about £40. I think I might just buy one and rebuild the can into that, unless I find a nice blue anodised one going cheap on flEabay.

PJ's do have a heading for 'stainless tubes' at a similar price, and 'titanium tubes' but the section is empty, awaiting email response on price for titanium tubes.
