Hello,

I was riding back home yesterday and suddenly did hear a sudden sound from chain and vibration on the bike as if the chain was snapped .

I did pull over and all was fine and even today riding back to work it was all good.
It felt like as if something has gone between the chain and sprocket like a stone or something

after checking at home it had about 4-5 cm of play which may be too loose as the manufacture spec is 2-3cm .
the 4-5 cm is when on stand so no load on the bike but again with my weight on it, it does not make much of difference.

anyhow I did tighten it up .

Do you think it is safe to ignore?
I think the chain may have moved 1 tooth back or forth because it was too loose or suddenly pulled ?

it made that sound while I was doing 40miles on left turn .

because it happened on left turn , I did try to push the bike around ( not standing on it ) and turn it toward left in circle and lean it as low as possible and it made a sound as if the stand head is catching the floor which it wasn't so can only think it was from either the chain or sprocket .

sorry if this is a very long post Smile

Thanks

If the chain is adjusted correctly, is lubricated and in good condition and the sprockets are in good condition too then I wouldn't worry. It's probably just the excess play that caused the noise.

Check it, make sure that it's still properly secure. Any problems with chains and sprockets jumping, falling off, snapping etc can make you a 60mph pedestrian, you'll have to get your feet going a bit quick to cope with 100 metre strides !.
