Hi folks, looking for a bit of advice.

I need to replace the swingarm on my 06 ZX6R C6F. I managed to get one from eBay but now it's arrived, it says C6F '08 on the delivery note, and it clearly is from an 08 model. However, offering it up to the bike, it looks like it still might fit. Before I either start stripping the bike or send it back, can anyone confirm if it will actually fit fit?

There is no such thing as a 2008 C6F. C6F is the model number and means it is 2006. C1F is the 2005, same shape as yours.

AFAIK 03-08 are all interchangeable but are all slightly different (extra tabs for huggers ect). The main difference is that they get longer as the years go on, think the 08 is about 50mm longer than the 636 ones.

I have a 2005 [C1H] I know the 2006 C6F is totally compatible, might be worth popping down the local kawasaki dealer to if the 07/08 is.

Alternatively

They will give you an answer Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, feel a lot better now. Further Googling also suggest it will fit and the measurements look to be the same. I'll maybe post some pics when it has been swapped over.

I know there's no 2008 C6F. My first thought when I called was that the people at the place I bought from (apparently very large breakers) were being dumb - they told me the swingarm I tried to buy originally (from a C1H) wouldn't fit, but they had the one I needed, so agreed they'd send that one instead. I could see no difference between the C1H swingarm and my own, but as they're apparently part of a Kwak dealer, I hoped they'd know better, and decided to trust them in case there were any minor variations from 05 - 06 that I was unaware of. It was only when I received the swingarm that I discovered they'd sent one from a 2008 model (P7F?) but marked it as a C6F '08.

At least now I know it'll fit, but it doesn't say much for their staff Confused

No idea how that would work to be honest, i know someone that rebuilt the majority of an 06 using a written off 05, theyre virtually identical - it may be in swing arm terms the 07/08 are also identical i'm not sure on that, but it sounds like someone mixed their models up on the phone Confused

That's what I thought too.

Even by email they were certain the C1H one wouldn't fit, though I've no idea where he got 2008 from (worst part is the C1H swingarm had been posted to me and they recalled it from the courier after telling me it was the wrong one Confused ). Oh well, never mind. Seems to have all the clips, holes, brackets, etc, in the same places and the dimensions seem to be the same, so can only try and see how it turns out I suppose.

Anything like this happens again, I would suggest spending a couple of minutes looking at the parts diagrams.

You would have seen that the C1H and C6H have the same swingarm part number.

Also I was fairly sure that the 07-08 was longer than the 05-06.

Just looked at the fiche for the 2008 and the 06 c6f, and there are subtle differences but mostly where the exhaust guards are mounted.

Well it seems I won't be posting pics of my bike with 2008 swingarm on. I went back out and measured again properly (ie actually took the cover off instead of just trying hold it out of the way). You're right, Aff, it is longer that C6F swingarm.

I phoned the shop at the weekend and the guy tried to claim I'd asked for a 2008 one (absolutely not). After he presumably went and re-read my email, he agreed to send out the one I ordered originally. Arrived today so will be getting it fitted tomorrow Smile (don't have the facilities here to do it myself unfortunately).
