Just the way it is
These days you have to take extra tests for any extra categories you want on your license
Where as the old lot had to do nothing to get them extras

Sucks but its the law, why? I dunno safety measure I guess

I'm guessing, she renewed her photocard in the last few months whereas you haven't.

You can drive all the same stuff but thanks the the EU Third Directive that came into force in January they have changed where three-wheeled vehicles fit it. It's now a motorbike category rather than under B/B1. So new car drivers passing their test can't drive Reliant Robins etc(!)

Her A will have (tri) next to it.

Also moped is now an EU wide category AM . Except it has a top speed of 28 mph and not 31. So if you had a p category before January you will get AM and p to keep your old entitlement for mopeds that can do 31. (UK only)

Edit: and q is for mopeds of a speed that falls below eurospecifications to maintain your UK only entitlement for those.

New car drivers won't get p or q or A(tri)

Just a load of Eurobollocks tbh that our Government has been forced to implement.
