Hi guys

Friend of mine has been given a Malaguti Madison 50cc scooter to play with.

Mehcanically it's fine, engine is in good condition, but the wiring has been bodged to fuck by a previous owner.

The scooter was given to him as a non runner.

We've replaced the wiring loom with a good second-hander. All electrics seem to be functioning properly, with the exception of the coil.

Have replaced the coil pack with a new one. Have also replaced the CDI with a second-hander.

The problem is that we're not getting a spark at all. The coil is fed directly from the CDI - and we're not getting any sort of feed to the coil 'input' from the CDI. Engine turns over healthily enough (now that I've educated him in kill switches and brake switches!)

Now then - scooters isn't really my thing, so has anyone got any suggestions as to what to look at next?

Cheers

hi storm crow,

you said he's been educated in stop and kill switches.......

so by that you mean you have disconnected the "kill" wire from the cdi, to the loom, so the "kill circuit" is completely disconnected from the cdi ign system??

so if there was a fault in the "kill" circuit, it has been illiminated cos its not connected to the "kill" circuit anymore??

and if the eng ran you could only stop the engine by stalling the bike ( if its possible to stall it, that is )

a pic of the wires from the cdi unit would help as well as from cdi to ht coil and from cdi to the cdi genny.

i presume the cdi kill wire is earthed to kill ign?
