Rear damper rebuild

Hi, my Husqvarna SM125 failed it's MOT on a leaky rear shock. I'm struggling to find new OEM, or aftermarket replacements, can these be rebuilt, and if so by whom?

Just keep searching, just Google rear shock absorber for your bike. You also could try eBay.

Sometimes people post rebuild services on eBay, that would involve sending shock off, they will strip it down and inform you what parts it needs and you will have the option to let them go ahead with the work or not. (make sure you go with someone eBay trusted)

I got it removed from the bike today and it looks be to a screw together rebuildable sachs unit with a gas fill port in the remote reservoir so hopefully it can be rebuilt. I've spoken to Edmonson racing who say they can rebuild it for me.

Out of the two options I'd feel better in sending it to edmonson to carry out the work, Reasonably priced, quick turn around time

Cool, I've been speaking to them anyway so will put the business their way if you reckon they're good to deal with.

Fingers crossed its just in need of the usual seals and whatnot!

What's the current mileage? It all depends on what the shocks had to cope with throughout its life.

Getting it rebuilt is a good option, buying a used replacement can sometimes be frustrating as they come in various different forms of, '' knackered''.

16500 miles on it in the last 9 years. I couldnt find a used replacement, nor new ones for sale, so a rebuild is the only real option.

With that mileage your probably looking at the basic rebuild and a re-gas.
