Anyone else feel this part is a complete shed of shit and totally unrealistic?
I've had my bike license about 2 and a half years, and did about 30,000 miles on my CBT before that. As the Mrs. is now pregnant it's time to sort out having the necessary evil that is a Cage Evil or Very Mad
I booked and went to take my theory today, nailed the actual multiple choice test as it actually makes sense, but failed on Hazard Perception (only just passed it for my bike test) which seems to be much more down to exam technique than actual knowledge and PERCEPTION. I actually got zero on one of the clips (which caused me to fail) as I clicked a grand total of about 7 times and this was deemed to be 'unacceptable response' by the computer! There were clips I'd clicked ten times or more and not had such a response!
I've submitted a complaint but doubt it'll get anywhere (although since it costs nothing to complain I'll probably just keep going up levels til they've worked to rob me of my £30).

Anyone else have a problem with this part of the test?

It's an utter farce, but we do have to just treat it as a game and get it done.

What is just incomprehensible is why car and bike tests are different when the bike test is just the car one with a couple of bike specific questions (that you can can get wrong, and still pass). Or in your case, you're sitting a test with a smaller question pool than one you've already passed. Doh!

The hazard perception is being redone at the moment using CGI. I wonder if fake clips will be any better than the potato-camera ones that they use at the moment.

It is a farce for most of us driver/riders, but for some it does get them thinking and I have seen it have an effect on people.

Yeah its a load of bollucks.

I found when I did my 2 theorys clicking 1 second apart slow and steadily during the duration of a hazard looking like its about to occur/happening/just about finished got me 4/5 marks on most, i know i clicked more than 7 times on many clips so you perhaps were doing them slightly too close together Question

There were plenty of times i clicked once or twice thinking something would happen and it didn't and i stopped clicking without any penaltys also, it seemed a lot more response-time sensitive than anything else.

That's why I'm nervous of doing my bike one, as I also nearly failed before on the hazard perception for my car test (a mark less & I would of Shocked).

The hazard perception is same for both anyway Wink

Re Matt, I clicked them throughout the whole clip, I think it must've decoded I clicked in a pattern or some bollocks.

On two of the clips I didn't have a clue what the main hazard was, yet I scored on all of them! Why the hell someone like me whose clocked up half a million miles over thirty years in a cage should have to sit a test aimed at seventeen year olds with zero road experience is a mystery to me.

I feel the same way about it. Total rip off money making scam. I just failed by a score that is so low it is obvious I didn't know how to play their shit game. I bought an iPhone app to see if that will help me the next time round. Been driving over 20 years!!!

Utter crock of shit. I did an online test for the multi choice Qs and got 95% with no revision. Looked through the highway code, and ended up getting 100% in the real thing.

SCRAPED hazard perception, even though I'd been driving over 5 years and would percept a hazard better than most people taking the test and passing.

It's all about exam technique and not about hazard perception.

I thought HP was actually a good idea, but the implementation is terrible imho. For me, it was pure luck whether I managed to nail the 5-3pts required. I'd spot the hazard no problem, but its the very narrow band of scoring that makes it an issue. Quite often I'd spot the hazard before it was deemed to be a hazard. So only got a pass 50% of the time in practice attempts.

This is the problem, they'd be better off standing people in front of a rotating tennis ball machine in small room and asking them to dodge the balls Rolling Eyes
