Hey again guys. I have just bought a 1991 Honda CG125 (using the forums help for a reliable bike!)
The guy i bought it from is having my commuter 'ped' from me as part if the deal..
Here's the problem.. the guy lives in London and i live in Bedfordshire. I dont have a driving licence so cant hire a van. I wouldnt mind riding the bike back from London. (With a few stops and avoiding mototways!) But i need to get my bike to him. Does anyone have a van in this area or know somebody with one?
Or any companies that could help?
Thanks
Dan

you could use the above to get quotes from random people with no insurance cover for the bike or you could use a proper company with proper kit.

sos do a good deal or I use www.wemovebikesandquads.co.uk

I've sent them the money for bikes so they can pay cash on collection for me and bike gets to me a couple of days later, never an issue and always a good deal, costs less than getting on a train usually.

Totally trustworthy, properly kitted vans and insurance in case my bike gets damaged.

I'm in the courier business and i wouldn't take a chance on a 'just how cheap can a bloke in a people carrier deliver my stuff for' site

Thanks

As far as I can see, how he collects the ped from you is his issue, much like how you collect the bike from him is your issue?

You tried phoning and asking for your requirements rather than just doing the online quote?

Ill give them a call soon. The guy having my ped isnt really fussed whether he gets it or not. Full cash would be fine for him but he just likes something to tinker around with lol its easier for me to give him the ped (and get £300 off the asking price) so i dont have to sorn it, find somewhere to keep it and then find a buyer for it. And really i would prefer to go to london with the van so i can make sure everything the guy said about the bike us true. But its not essential.

There is no number, shiply it isn't a transport company it is a site where you post what you want moved and people bid lower and lower until a price gets to beer money and someone turns up to move it, the site takes a slice of the cake and none of the responsibility when it goes tits up.

Ah ok. Would you advise getting 2 quotes? One for the delivery of my bike and another seperate one for the pick up of the cg125?

phone www.wemovebikesandquads.co.uk you tell them what you need, they give you a price, proper job, proper people and no messing with unknowns on a web site.
Accept the price or not but you will get bikes moved for a good price an without hassle. I use these but there are others, never used them but sos are meant to be good as well, get on the phone.

Have you a mate with a full car licence, who'd fancy a trip to collect it? Someone who could hire a van (paid for and fuelled by you, obviously) who'd be prepared to give you a hand for a while in return for you buying lunch and a few beers after?

transit hire £60, £30 fuel, £20 mate's lunch and a beer or two £110 in total
4 hrs messing about, finding a £200 deposit and hoping nobody scratches the van or one of the bikes falls over in the back so you can save £20?

Both ride, meet half way, problem solved.

I've hired a Transit to pick 2 bikes up before, total cost for the day to Oxford was £65. £35 for van hire and £30 on fuel. Food was from the house, drink and crisps.

I got my road legal pit from Wales to Maidstone for £80 through Shiply, but then again I couldn't care about scratches, lifes too short Laughing

Where in Bedfordshire to where in London?

Or, just ride the ped. I've looked at a map, it's all downhill. Put on a clown outfit and tape a bucket to the seat, people will think you're on a chaaaaridy run and you might even cover your fuel.
