There's a new kid who's just started at my work and he's got a
Yamaha TW. He recons its a 250cc but when I search on google and biketrader all I find is a 125cc.Do they do a 250 version? Had a quick go on it today and it was slow compared to my Nsr?

Measure the bore and stroke if that's your thing.

There is a Yamaha TW200, I know that, but I think that is only sold in the states.
But how far does the speedo go?
And how fast did you get it when you had a go on it?

The speedo went up to 80 mph and I only had a quick go in Mc D's carpark.Just spoke to him and he says that he put the 250 engine in it himself? I know it was a 4stroke, so would a 250 4st be quicker than a 125 2st? All it is, is that he seems to be lying about his engine size, and it just annoys me. Why lie abbout somthing to impress someone?

I would imagine the 250cc 4 stroke, in a bike like that, would be a bit slower than a 2 stroke 125cc. It also probably felt slower due to the power delivery of a 2 stroke compared to a 4.

So he is claiming to have dropped a 250cc enginge in, or big bored it or something?
I am not very technically minded, but from the fact the speedo goes to 80, it is definatly the 125 bike, if he has done anything to the enginge, the only way I could tell would be to ride i to over 70mph.

If the speedo had 250mph on it, that doesn't mean it will be go 250mph. If has dropped a 250 into a bike that originaly had a 125, then it is likely that he has kept the old speedo? Also for example the yamaha sr 250 has about 20hp so it isn't going to do much more than 80mph anyway Very Happy

the original tw125 has a 4 stroke engine anyway and tops out at 60-65. they are not built for speed in the slightest. built more for beach fun Very Happy have a look on the side of the barrel it should say the size of the engine. there wont be a 250cc big bore for a 125 engine also have a look at all the mounts and exhaust size etc. to shoe horn a 250cc engine he would have had to make quite a few changeds to the chassis

The exhaust outlet on it is smaller than my mates 50cc bike although it could have somthing to do with being a 4 st.
