So today was the first time I filled the bike up at the petrol station.
Pulled in, too close to the pump.. It's alright ill move the bike over.
Lifted the nozzle, nothing! Put back down, lifted back up.. Nothing! Again!
Ran inside still with helmet on, asked the attendant to switch the pump on. Lifted the nozzle and went to start filling up not 3 seconds later, all that comes over the tannoy, "can the gentleman at pump 3 please remove your helmet"

Never been so embarrassed before in my life!
Has anyone had anything like that happen to them ?!.

This topic has been covered hundreds, literally thousands of times over the last decade or so.

You will get two responses:

1.) just take your helmet off before you fill up.

2.) fill up somewhere else.

Thanks, I was just so embarrassed that was the main problem,
Instead of coming over and asking they blasted it over the tannoy

but strangely you'll get the same response from most of the forum of "Why the fuck should I?" to both of those responses.

Think of it from their perspective. The person that signs their pay-cheque has told them not to let bikers fill up with their helmets on. They're not going to ignore their boss to save you a few seconds of your time - it could cost them their job.

They can't exactly come out and tell every single bike, in person, that they must remove their helmets. It'd create a queue of people wanting to pay who can't, and a queue of people wanting to have their pump activated.

My personal stance is that there's absolutely no point in it. Garages have ANPR (mostly) anyway.

But if you've never been more embarrassed in your life... you need to do more stupid things Very Happy

Yeah but more embarassing is when the wetted/dunked end of your tea biscuit drops into your cup when you're in a biker Cafe.

Try to live that down. Rolling Eyes

Advice:

Don't keep your tea biscuit submerged in hot tea for more than is necessary. Wink

First off, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iyg26qXqvXg&sns=em

P.S: Main things to know before posting a thread:

1. Always argue about removing helmet
2. Nod to others bikers or not, it's up to you so doesn't require a thread on the forum
3. Chicken strips are not sold in McDonald's
4. Your yzfr125 will never hit over 100mph
5. You cannot restrict and R6 / R1 to conform with CBT restrictions
6. Leathers or textiles.... Up to you
7. Filter if you want

Any other posts are welcome Thumbs Up

I wasn't too bothered about removing my helmet it was the sheer arragance of tannoying it when I'm right next to the slide window.

I got asked to remove my lid in store the other day, I said no. She casked again and I said " you can ask as many times as you like, the lid isn't coming off"
"Company policy, you have to take it off or I won't serve you"
"OK company policy isn't the law, I am not legally obliged to remove my helmet by law, it's a request which I am not taking part in"
"Well I won't serve you"
"Well that's fine, because legally as in written in law I have attempted to pay, you're now refusing payment and if you refuse payment legally I can walk out of here and ride off as I have attempted to pay and you won't accept it....are you refusing payment? Because if you're I am going to walk out here and go on my way"

Brook story, it worked though

So you're just making life harder for someone who is just trying to do their job. Go get a manager if you want to pick an argument. They deserve all they get - the lot of them Evil or Very Mad

And they are making life harder for people who just want petrol. End of the day I always fill up there, no one else has ever had an issue, if it was a managers wish then they would have asked the day before Wink just some woman being a jobsworth cnut, act like one, get treated like one.

I don't care whether it is your managers wishes or not, it isn't law, there is no statute that says I have to remove my life, you're the one choosing to implement it, implement something stupid and you get what is given to you.

The thing that bothers me about it is if it was a woman in a burkha they wouldnt dream of asking her to remove it, so i dont intend to remove my helmet. Dont care if people wear them, but dont like all this one rule for the PC brigade and another for everyone else nonsense.

Raises the question what theyd do if you remove your helmet as instructes and have a burkha underneath Rolling Eyes

Just pickup the pump nozzles, put them all on the floor and then leave.
