i have tried to de-restriced my (2001 nsr supersprint in-port) it has no exhauts restrictor and has some strange cone thing in the intake tract. when you take the cone out the bike will not start is my cdi restricted how can i find out and if so can it be replaced and are they expensive. i hope some1 can help me.has any 1 de-restricted a nsr suppersprint before. Confused

That funny cone thing is the reed valve, you need those Very Happy If the *breathing* restrictions are not there, then I guess it is the CDI. I am not aware of which models of NSR were restricted via the CDI.

Forgot to add, www.nsr125.com have a derestriction guide, showing you how to derestrict the exhaust and intake, after that is the following.

"Let us dispel a myth - the UK spec bikes do not have restricted CDI units, only the import (RR) bikes have these. The only other way in which the NSR is restricted is that the UK spec bikes have 1 tooth missing from the front sprocket, fitting a larger one will see the bike hitting 110Mph at the expense of some acceleration time. Some bikes which have been restricted as imports have the movement of the throttle slide restrcited, so the throttle is never fully open - to check this have a look into the carb whilst turning the throttle and try to account for all the throttle grip movement."

Mine is an ireland import and was not de-restricted via the cdi btw
