Boss was fairly peeved today, she bought a new car within 24 hours it had been keyed all down one side.

My dad too had his windows replaced and got brick within a week.

Lots of people on here buy nice bikes and they get stolen, cars get mirrors taken off constantly.

Is there any point in owning nice things any more? Other than those which can be locked in the security of your home? Noting of course my place has 5 bolts and I would die horribly if there were ever to be a fire having to unlock them all.

I remember as a kid when you went into school with a new pair of shoes or new trainers everyone had to stamp on them until they were scuffed. Never knew why, they just did. Same with a new hair cut, they had to slap your head.

Move somewhere that has less poor people.

Having said that, some cunt will probably steal my stuff tonight.

I used to think it was just few wankers/chavs etc. that did that, but recently I've become more inclined to think it's going the way of one of 2 things - pond life who should be castrated or steralised to get rid of any more offspring, or we are going down the road of rich areas with guards and guns and all the poor left out in the wilderness.

Maybe not in my time, but soon.

Unpleasantly that sounds like what Krad considers to be a good thing (he'll be along soon he's like honey to a bee when he gets mentioned).

I've lived in a few rough areas in the past.... where even having a full set of clothes was considered a luxury... but at least the poor respect the poor... unlike the rich with all the back stabbing, brown nosing and lying just to get that massive payout for fucking up a company

Do they fv(k. I lived on a shithole estate in Weston-super-Mare many years ago. If someone went away for more than a couple of days it was open season on their property.

This was expected with anything new or clean, so when punk happened we started hitting each other instead.

OK so the poor used to respect the poor.... mind you I grew up in the 80's in the East End of Glasgow, it's probably considered a posh area compared to some in the UK

It seems to be a peculiarly British thing. Rather than thinking 'One day I will own a car like that', they trash it. Sad

The posts seem to presume that those who vandalise etc are poor. Are you sure that is always the case? Often maybe, but not always. There have been instances around where I live where it is definitely no so. I have decent IR CCTV around my property (historical reasons) and that has shown local teens from well off local families on what would be classed as a posh area vandalising rose trees and similar in my garden, pissing up the walls and even shagging against the gatepost. The last one was not a teenager! That gave us a laugh

Bleeding heart liberal whinging about lack of prospects, product of society.

Daily Krad ranting about gassing them all, shouldering a man's burden.

Bit of soft shoe, jazz hands, curtain down.

Standard answer from me but...

It's something to do with capitalism leading to consumerism leading to materialism leading to individualism leading to loss of all social values.

Community is gone. I think it's true that the UK needs to be 'more poor' again. It wouldn't happen over night, but when people haven't got very much they do stick together. Consider any poor community in Africa, India, Brazil, or anywhere else for that matter. Eastern Europeans are pretty diligent and socially conscious too.

I do think there is a direct link between prosperity and the destruction of community. The UK, US, Australia, and the richer parts of Europe and South Africa - basically all the rich 'Western' parts of the world - all narcissistic shitholes if you ask me. Might sound a bit hypocritical since I'm from there, but jesus christ all I do is rant about how shit the place is without even acting on the issues. So I'm not helping either. Maybe if I had a bit less, I'd be more inclined to go out and do more good for myself and my people.

It's actually very interesting that no-one seems to have ever liked a rich person. It just goes to show that, for all the time we spend wanting to play the game and get as rich as personally possible, we actually do deep down have innately communistic values - "why should he have more than everyone else?!"

This is why I bought a near immaculate GSXR and put ratty bodywork on it. I can now leave it anywhere and I don't worry about it getting scratched, knocked over etc.

I'll put the decent bodywork back on it when I sell it.

I just got myself a fairly nice new car, wouldn't leave it on the street on a fri/sat night as it's asking for trouble. When I was younger, I'd be exactly the same person who would decide to try and run over the top, so meh.

Reminds me of a time I went to see a friend in Bristol, I'd literally just got out of the car and took a few steps away and noticed a group of kids walking towards me.... a few more steps from the car I hears a thump thump thump then all the kids laughing... it wasn't till I went back to the car later that night I noticed the foot prints on the bonnet and dent in the roof. (and that was only a 5 year old mondeo)

Mind you even if I had seen them do it and tried to say anything... I'd probably have been arrested for being racist Rolling Eyes

the bit about eastern europeans gave me a laugh. Used to live in a building of the basterds, they had no manner along with being ignorant to the fact that 3am isn't a good time to have loud music playing. Its the same story with all 12 sets of those socially conscious eastern Europeans that lived in that building up to the point that i left
