Reversing my bike from a curb and all of a sudden I hit some big ass hump in the road and bang.... Bike falls to the left.

A guy runs over and helps me out as he's a biker. Luckily my crash bobbins saved the day.

The man goes on telling me how much it cost him on his bike when he dropped it cos of no bobbins etc. when all I wanted to do was F off out of there Embarassed

Middle of hatton garden too Thumbs Down

I wanked him. I mean thanked him.

Need I do more?

Ever been in an embarrassing situation? General courtesy goes out the window. You just want to F off.

I always reverse into the kerb so as I'm facing forward when moving off. It just makes sense to do that, especially when there's a steep camber on the road.

You need to start pumping some iron, try picking up a FJR1300 loaded up with 2 months worth of gear Laughing

That was the second time I dropped it. The first time was the day I picked it up from the shop, I stalled it at a T junction and over it went, right in front of a bus load of pensioners. I think it made their day. Screwed mine up good and proper, broken mirror and scuffed fairing and exhaust. Sad

Poor obs. If the hump in the road was that big, why did you back the bike over it?

You sausage.

Dropping my bike is a hourly occurance when riding, if i'm being a tit then even more. I'm clumsy so bought a fugly bike to begin with.

Lucky you had sliders on the bike, potential damage is ridiuclous if the fairing cracks. Manufacturers should really include a safe guard against dropping your bike just like cars have bumpers etc.

Or just don't drop it, plan ahead so you don't need to do tricky maneuvers like trying to paddle backward uphill.

I prefer to fit trampolines to my side fairing so it bounces back up when dropped Thumbs Up

Two weeks after getting on the road with my bike i dropped it at a junction. 'Gravel under boot foot slips and over it goes' luckily I managed to lower it and forward roll off into the gutter. Guy ran over and helped me pick it up. No damage luckily but I felt a right t*at!

Did you drop it in America/Canada? Rolling Eyes

If you dropped it somewhere in the UK it would have been Kerb.

Whilst on my DSA training a guy I was training with said to me, all my bikers friends say get a naked bike first as for whatever reason you will DROP your bike several times within the first couple of years of riding and fairing are expensive.

This seemed like sound advice so I followed it and bought a spotless Honda Hornet. Until I dropped it cracking the rear fairing and denting the tank, the way it fell it would of smashed up a front fairing pretty good, costing me alot more than the £135.00 it did and that's with crash bobbins.

So my advice to newbies looking to buy a bike is go NAKED Thumbs Up

The only reason I haven't properly dropped my current bike is because I spent money to put crash bars on it. If I hadn't, I would have keeled over pulling out of the dealer's.

I did a slow half-drop recently, though. I was walking my bike around my driveway when the footpeg on the far side hooked on to one of the bags of rubbish that I just put out. I stupidly reached over the bike to try and unhook it and the bike fell away from me -- into the soft, smelly pile of rubbish and recycling bags. The tricky bit was picking it up -- the pile was against the side of the house. I had to pull it up.

I dropped my NC700 the other day, I was in a bit of a rush and left the disk lock on...."Rmmmm CLUNK....bonk* - Bent clutch lever and gear lever, slight scratch to bar end.

It was the slowest & gheyest bike drop possible and I was thoroughly ashamed. After a mini audience watched me pick it up (...no one helped...), I had to stay there and bask in the glow of my own awesomeness whilst I got the disk lock off and straightened out the gear lever.

I have it on video too, but I'll probably just keep that gem to myself.
