 |
|
A mate of mine has just asked me to have a look at his early Fazer carbs, with a view to stripping and cleaning them.
It's been standing for 4 years in a dry garage and it's a low mileage bike, but because it's immobile, I'll be working with a minimum of tools and I've never laid a spanner on one of these before.
So, before I commit myself, does anyone know what kind of a job this is?

Apologies for being unhelpful but carbs are carbs. If you're not sure on what you're doing, don't do it. Unless the friend isn't that close in case you fall out if the bike has to go to a shop and repair bills go up.
If it were your own bike, I'd say pile in an clean them up. Only you to blame for knackering your own stuff then |

I've got no problem with the actual carbs themselves, as you say, a carb is a carb and I've been rebuilding them for 35 years or more.
I was more concerned with the ease, or otherwise, of removing them; the newer bikes get, the more they pack in and the harder it is to take them apart, so if these are particularly problematic, I will gracefully decline to work on them. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........
