Ever had something happen that you just cannot logically explain ?

So often when they do occur the mind tends to sweep them under the carpet rather than be fried by the complete lack of explanation.
Last night I experienced one of these but I can't let it go . . hence I am writing this . . for whatever therapy it will be.

The OH was due to come over to mine last night after a night out with some friends. I was totally knackered so went to bed early, about 10.30, after stashing my keys outside the flat and sending her a text telling her what I had done and where the keys were so she could let herself in.

I half awoke later on when I heard a noise next to my bed that sounded like the OH dumping her jewellery on the bed side table. I half opened an eye and thought I saw her shape in the darkness.
I had assumed it was about 12/1 ish and she was about to get in bed, but must have fallen asleep again as I next woke at 4.30 to find she wasn't beside me. I got up to see where she was to find she hadn't come round at all, keys still where I had left them and all as I had left it. This is until I went back to the bedroom and there on the bed side table was one of her bracelets ! This was definitely not there earlier and she hadn't been round for nearly a week so I know it wasn't there the previous nights. Confused

Cue me sitting up for 3 hours racking my brain trying to figure out wtf had happened.

This would have been a good prank, but the OH would never invest that much time and effort in a wind up like this, so I am left totally without a feasible answer as to what I saw / heard / found when I woke. Brick Wall

Now I am no believer in the spooky stuff . . but sometimes weird shit does happen and it should be questioned.

Anyone else got a similar story ?

TL;DR - Who you gonna call ?

Once saw a juggling ball fly out of my room onto the landing, whilst I was halfway up the stairs. All of my family were in the living room. Neutral

Never worked that one out.

Very vivid dream, I am driving a car with my gran, going shopping, she is telling me a joke.

I could not work out why I was driving her as my mum would take her shopping or grandad would have.

Several years later I am driving gran and she starts to tell this same joke, the hairs stood up on my neck.

The reason I was driving her and not Mum or grandad is that both had died by this time.

A couple of times when working at the office on my own, I have heard loud footsteps going up and down the corridor outside. They are louder than normal footsteps, but you can clearly hear someone going from one end of the corridor to the other, and past the door. Naturally, there is nobody there when you go to check.

I've also heard the same thing from the corridor upstairs, and again there is nobody there when you check.

And of course it only happens when you're there alone at night, when you least want to investigate!

This ^^

Once We had Radio station/recording studio, massive building spread over 2 floors that was previously left derelict, the upstairs area left even longer as downstairs area was open plan and used for manufacturing at some point. Next door was an industrial laundry that obviously was closed at night.

Many times when when I was in by myself you would hear unexplainable foot steps coming from upstairs area. The same happened with other people who were in working by themselves also. Once when I was in with my mate, we could hear infrequent moaning/groaning coming from up there along side the footsteps, which was so blatant, we turned to each other thinking wtf??

The building was alarmed, there was 2 entry/exit points. The main was the shutter out front, and the fire exit which led into a gated/locked courtyard of the laundry. Whenever you went upstairs after hearing the noises, ofcourse nobody was there. Unexplainable.

I've had this a few times, feeling awake but not being able to move and trying to scream but can't. Once I had it where there was the shape of a person at the end of the bed!

weird shit I can't explain;

1.) Buttons in lifts have braille on them, but how do blind people know where the buttons are?

2.) Why do we sell petrol in litres but measure fuel economy in miles per gallon?

3.) Women

4.) If swearing is immature, why do we call it adult language?

Answers on a postcard, please.

my cat used to follow something a lot when i lived at my old place. Always spooked and his fur standing up. Never knew what he saw that i couldnt but he would suddenly sit bolt upright and stare towards the door before slinking in stalking mode slowly up the stairs before sitting outside the small bedroom door just looking at it.

These sorts of scary things happen always in the same sort of circumstances - when it's dark, we're alone, our sense are heightened, etc. Our minds fill in the gaps with whatever we assume should make sense for the given situation, and since we've been brought up with horror movies, religion, alien stories and all that other baseless crap, we always relate it to reality and assumed the worst.

Actually it's really interesting and is definitely clear evidence of the theory of evolution.

We're more afraid at night because that's when we were more vulnerable to attack from wolves, bears, hyenas, tigers, or whatever other prehistoric creatures. Of course we'd have to have pretty damn good senses and our brain probably naturally heightens our awareness after a prolonged amount of time in the dark, and we'll be quicker to go into the fight-or-flight fear response in situations like that. Consider that after a certain amount of time in the dark, your eyes adapt to the light conditions. So if your eyes can adapt, so can your brain. Therefore when it's dark, I argue that our fear response is greatly enhanced.

So there's my scientific explanation for why we're more easily spooked when it's dark.

In the safety of the modern world, when the lights go out, we're still subconsciously afraid of being killed by a dinosaur.

Some of the new buses now have braille writing on the handbrake lever/surround. I have yet to see a totally blind bus driver, although now I think about it... Laughing

Blind people know that its a lift so it will have buttons at hand height, they move their hand along the wall to find the buttons and read the braille.

retailers are forces to give prices in metric, but everyone still sticks to the traditional system for mpg, as no one forces us to change, and no one would make sense of it if we were quoted in mpl or even worse kmpl
Vracktal wrote:

women are physically smaller than men so the only way for them to achieve dominance is a pre-programmed alternation of good moods and bad moods that have them in control. Bad mood is do as i say or else, good mood is I'm nice really so keep me in a nice mood by doing as i say.

Kids arent allowed to swear, so that rebelious phase of becoming an adult, you want to swear more than a normal person, which marks you out as immature to the proper adults especially if you continue into proper adulthood.

I had a full scale poltergeist experience a few years ago, inanimate objects moving around, even flying across the room, ball lightening, things falling through the ceiling and so on. It was actually quite fun to watch a line up of coffee cups on the draining board have a little race towards the edge, I had to push them all back three times before they gave up.
